I watched it the other night? It was so lovely, they really looked after that girl.

Although I thibnk all those things to ward off evil spirits might have freaked me out more.

I missed the first five minutes.
Can anyone explain where they are and what they're doing there?

OK I have ishoos with this programme now.

Last week was interesting enough but eventually turned off because of the 'I'm finding myself in a tribe and solving all my problems' stuff.

This week it is completely cringeworthy. I'm feeling deeply uncomfortable as well with the concept of someone going in for a short time in this way. When are they going to disillusion the poor guy that she's not sticking around to marry him...(will eat DS nappy if this is not the case and she does). Such potential for misunderstanding in all of this.

And it is such a sanitised portrayal of poor communities' lives.

i don't know, stranger things have happened.

my landlords know two women in Uganda who came from the UK and became tribal wives.

they found what they were looking for there.

and there needs to be more press and reporting on how these peoples' lives are really under threat.

from bio fuels as well as logging.

Wow expat that is fascinating, I am really enjoying this programme - don't think I could actually manage that life after growing up in a western culture though - boars brains anyone?

i takes a certain type of person, but it's not outwith the bounds of the impossible.

Wasn't there a series on a few months back called 'tribe'?
Was it filmed in the same place?

Report
southeastastra · 25/06/2008 21:51

last weeks was really good, i'd love to do that for a month. they seem happier people than we do.

Their life seems so simple and uncomplicated. In a good way.

It's had a proper profound effect on that woman hasn't it?

lazarou - the Tribe prog was where a group from some remote tribe stayed in London in a swao - as the presented had stayed in their tribe previously. It was another great series

Aha! Was that the one I'm thinking of then? Definitely saw a bloke living with a tribe for a while

Report
expatinscotland · 25/06/2008 22:07

no doubt, pink!

'i will live alone until she comes back.'

'i will bring her boars and monkeys to cook.'

then i'd think about all the complete fuckwits i wasted my time with who couldn't give a rat's arse about me and i'd be waving that plane goodbye.
