Five favourite teams return to take on five pairs of fans.

Now just on episode 2 now - already sick of the presence of Romel. (He would almost made me want to not watch.) Bitching about someone rolling their eyes, liking the sound of thier own voice and needing attention. No sense of hypocrisy at all!! Whoever he has been partnered with I don't recall!!

Also massive YAWN to all the strategic voting.

Also, and I say this every year, HOW is the food still hot. They take an age to plate up (episode 2 couple took over 30 minutes) yet not word about it being cold.

I made DD read the book, she sobbed. Then I made both DDs watch movie just last week... We all sobbed. One of my faves also.... I always wanted to look like Cherry Valance

Was it thrilling? From what I can figure out it was Rommel and Whatever her name is.

There's not a lot watching and looking for a thread on MN this year is there!!! Disappointing as I need somewhere to vent about how much I can't stand Sophia and Romel. Just you and me @Winterfellismyhome

I don't recall her (probably it was a series before I started watching MKR, or I've just forgotten her!) but I do recall Romel. I had enough of him in that series, not pleased they brought him back.

One of my strongest recalls of him was him informing the table he was all-natural and it was just like that from using creams. (Creams that acted like botox!)

Was really looking forward to it but after a couple of episodes I'm not so sure now, will watch the next few and come back then.

Not liking the soap opera bitching. Far too much interest in the showmance love triangle.

I loved Dan and Steph first time around. Now Dan is in kahoots with Romel and strategic scoring, l am disappointed. Romel's partner had braces and was bitchy last time,that's all I recall about her.

The rivals have some weak teams (Roula). The fans have been stronger. The scores from the teams don't matter that much, they are only a 1/4 of the total.

No. The show is killing itself off. I know we all were entertained by the farcical behaviour of some of the contestants prior. And I think over the last few years it has started to focus more on that than the food, but this series has tipped (more dumped) into focusing on them. You don't see even close to as much actual focus on the food as before: barely any shopping, far less prep.

Haven't watched Friday's yet. Not through lack of time either. I think I will watch it mostly because it's that guy in the hat who seems to be a similar personality to Romel. I can only hope for disaster.

Actually speaking of men in hats, I think that's when MKR started to come off the boil for me. There was a year there was a man in a hat and his girlfriend (possibly wife). He was a over-confident twerp and she was made out to be uptight Neither were particularly excellent at cooking. Yet Pete kept praising them and inexplicably labelled them winners near the start. They did in fact win.

Cherry that sounds like Dan and Steph in 2013. Dan was all about homemade sausages and they won. He has lost a huge about of weight.

No, not them. Certainly not that long ago certainly (On a tangent, don't think I was watching then as I don't recall Dan and Steph at all.)

I've just looked it up. It was only 2018 and they were called Alex and Emily.

Not as long ago as would have guessed at. Might have said 2017. However that was the year of "The Seafood King".

Have caught up and watched last nights, agree with pps about the soap opera element and very little focus on the food, I don't think the rivals is a good idea, so much experience in the favs team is surely going to go against the fans team.

I remember them CherryValanc she was a whinger and cried to get her way, she was only short of stamping her feet at times.

The strategic voting is tedious, Romel and Sophia are just plain nasty, Roula and Rachel can't cook under pressure, they never could.

Have no idea what Roula and Lauren (I think that's her name) see in Ben, his friend...well he's a nice lad but the moustache is awful.

Oh god the seafood King, he was horrible and treated his wife appallingly, I remember some of the contestants pulling him up over how awful he was to her, very sad really.

They have ruined the show. Pete is dumbing down, manou is badly acting like a plonked. Never mind wheres the sauce, it should be mkr

This used to be so good. I enjoyed the series with the pop up truck but think over the last 2 or 3 series they have lost their way and like with so many other reality shows create arrificial drama when all we want is a simple cooking competition

Agree with you.

Used to love the challenges where they went out and all had to cook.

It's literally about rivalry. Clue is in the name I suppose. But it's just boring with tedious camp villain Romel and deluded pysco Mark.

Also there's just no variety of couples is there. Such as Mother and Son. Plus it's just daft competition- hey "fans" who have never cooked in a commercial kitchen before, compete against people who have.

I'm hoping Mark will go tonight (I'm currently watching) might improve it. Though might require Romel getting too close to the oven and melting.
