She's just super shallow, obsessed with brands, materialistic, fake nails, fake tan, designer clothes. She is the kind of person I have zero in common with and who has nothing in her head apart from make-up and brands.

Awful. And even worse, she's bringing up her daugter to be exactly the same.

I'm traumatised by a £300 hairdryer they are testing out...

Dumb fuck husband who works 16 hours a day 6 days a week to pay for it all.....
Crazy, spending for the sake of spending, label orientated, living in her own world.

So far removed from my way of thinking/living....I just don't get people like this, I just don't get it.

I missed what they do for a living, could someone fill me in please?

He's a mechanic. She's a beauty therapist.

Thank you.

I do not believe she cannot wait to start saving and stop spending Hmm

No me either. She is far too materialistic and is the "wouldn't be seen dead with my Boots shampoo" type.

I spent the whole time that was on shouting "why" at the TV. £100 on one bottle of plonk.... obscene

Last time they did fizzy wine on that programme the £5 Aldi cava beat £30 champagne hands down in a blind taste test, which tells you all you need to know about how expensive doesn't necessarily mean better.

I find this show a real eye opener. I assumed everyone bought whatever was on deal like me. £100 for fizzy is bizarre.

Did anyone see last week? They bought endless clothes and I've never seen a tackier woman in my lite. What a waste of money (that could be spent on actual nice clothes).

The spending this week was just ridiculous. I'm not materialistic so don't much buy into this business of being over-glamorous to walk the dog.

What I don't get is how the pair of them weren't in debt?!

They maybe were in debt - it didn't say they weren't. They certainly owed a lot on her 4x4 car.

I think this couple must have loved to be on tv letting everyone know how much they buy and how she only wears an outfit once etc etc

Urgh I caught the last 20 mins. She was awful. I seriously do not know why people need to go on telly to be told where they are wasting money. And as for the car when she said it made her feel sick. Really!

ssd · 16/03/2017 22:59

she actually turned my stomach, not the sort of reaction she probably hoped for, she most likely would imagine people like me (money conscious) are wildly jealous of her....NOT!!

Didn't watch this one but yes, absolutely no need to spend lots on wine, fizzy or not.

Did they succeed in getting her to swap for cheaper alternatives?

She came across as very spoilt and used to getting her own way. Can't believe she'll take any of the advice given and will carry on spending til they're bankrupt

I didn't understand the shampoo. How. How can you spend £400 a year in shampoo!!

Report
ememem84 · 17/03/2017 07:48

I've probably spent that on shampoo in the last 10 years. If that.

foxessocks · 17/03/2017 07:49

She didn't want to swap her make up bit everything else she said she would i think. Not sure if i believe it!

What made me laugh was that she pays for two gym memberships but won't walk her own dogs! Surely walking the dog twice a day every day would be decent exercise and then just go to one gym?!

I watched that last night! My OH was appalled with the hair extensions at £40 a pop so by the time she started talking about feeling physically sick about her car being a "Kia"😱 he was looking at me and telling me he had a new appreciation for me lol. She was a nutter!

She sounds like the wife of one of DPs friends, who divorced him for being 'financially abusive'.

He earned a decent but not stellar salary (maybe £50k ish), paid all the household bills, mortgage, food, all car bills for both of them including the lease on a premium brand small car and petrol for her - he had some 10 YO estate and basically her salary was hers to spend as she wished (it was probably £15-20k pa) and it wasn't enough to pay for all the beauty treatments, clothes and accessories, nights out and mini breaks with her friends etc that she wanted.

Even though they had no DCs she didn't think it was reasonable to need to work and pay her way. She kept quitting jobs because they were 'boring' or got in the way of her shopping and lunching lifestyle.

They had an enormously expensive wedding paid for by her parents - her dad jokingly said he'd had to delay retirement to pay for it, and I think this was probably true - she had been brought up as 'Daddy's Princess' and clearly expected her DH to take over that role.

I noticed this woman lived next door to her parents, probably had them at her beck and call all her life too
