Has anyone been watching 'Reign' on Netflix?

I have to admit that this is one of my guilty pleasures right now...

I'm a very sensible professional 41 year old woman (well actually 21 in a 41 year old's body - sucks!) and I know it's completely factually incorrect but I am really really enjoying it!

I work from home and have watched the first two seasons and the latest season 3 episodes in the last 2 weeks.

I am also a 'Pretty Little Liars' fan though, clearly I just like American rubbish - but I'm looking forward to the next episode on Saturday Grin.

It's so bad! But I'm also watching it and I'm older than you Grin

Trashy non historically accurate shite that it is

I started watching it but it was just too inaccurate and silly, I was reading wolf hall at the same time so it was just making the glaring errors look worse. I am 41 and like stupid tv vampire diaries, PLL etc. But I

Sorry tablet flaked on me! I am prob going to give reign another go and just ignore the fact it involves historical figures. If I recognise it is just very pretty people in medieval role play I will enjoy it much more!Grin

I think my problem is that I love the idea of romance and hate the reality of how awful the people really were back then!! I'm reading 'The King's Curse' at the moment having recently finished 'Taming of the Queen' and loved the series of 'The White Queen'.

That is also historically inaccurate but still made for fab reading! Grin

I have a real guilty pleasure for really bad historical drama is it as bad as the tudors ?if so im definitely watching it !!!

redannie, I haven't watched the Tudors yet, the box-set is on my Xmas list, but I understand that Reign is worse!! Grin

It's target audience is teenage girls really, similar sort of audience as for Twilight/Pretty Little Liars/90210 I expect. I do find myself googling though to find out which events were actually true and there are some links, albeit very loose ones!!

I was amazed at how many famous people were in it though! It has Captain James from 'Our Girl' (swoon...) in it aswell as actors/actresses from Neighbours and other soaps.

I have been bingeing on reign this week as I am at home with a poorly dd2. Is it just me or does any else picture this whenever Bash goes off on a hunt for 'the darkness'?!

Has anyone been watching 'Reign' on Netflix?

It does seem to be more like The Originals without vamps/ werewolves than any historical drama. But it is good fun. So I can enjoy it.

And it's got Anne of Green Gables in it!

Sadly I have now caught up with it on Netflix so it's the weekly wait for the next episode so I have started again from season one. Roll on 1st December so I can get the Xmas DVDs on instead!! The joys of working from home with no background noise other than the breathing of two smelly old labradors Grin.

I never got to the end of the first season as it was just so, so, so bad. And I have watched some terrible shows. The acting is terrible, the clothes should be burned. Netlix keeps suggesting it to me.

Searching for it now! Love escapism trash!

Bigmouth, I hope DD is better now!

Groovee, I hope you're on the mend aswell!

If anyone can think of anything similar I can become attached to, please let me know.

For those who loved it and haven't yet seen this, Pretty Little Liars is also on Netflix and also trashy escapism. It's based around 4 girls and their friend who has been murdered. There are 6 seasons and it's really good. Not historical though...

I liked dance academy too. It's about an Australian dance school. Life unexpected was good too.

Suits and the good wife!

Thanks dd2 is back at school - but she may have passed the lurgey on to dd1. Which is unfortunate. Nowt serious so musn't grumble.

I have a high tolerance for trashy teen bollocks. Netflix queue is full of Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars. Just couldn't get into Reign. Perhaps it takes itself too seriously? Maybe it's the awful acting of the heroine? I dunno. It just didn't have that spark that'd get me hooked.

Although it was slightly better than that abomination where Liz Hurley played the queen. I didn't make it through the pilot. They had a prince called Liam. LIAM! Did the writers think that was a majestic royal name?

Ooooh Groovee, I re-watched Dance Academy recently after watching it ages ago - I still bawl my eyes out when whatisface dies!!! Surprisingly good (although Abigail was always the better dancer, even though she was a bitch...).

Life Unexpected was fab too!! I may queue that up again, the girl's Dad was quite nice to watch Smile.

Oh dear Bigmouth, there is a lot of stuff going around at the moment...

Notquite LIAM?????? Yep, that wins the 'Stupidest name in a historical drama' award!

It was the first thing I watched on Netflix.

Liam is bad but I find "lady Lola" very cringeworthy, especially as I know all Queen Mary's ladies were called Mary thanks horrible histories

I am ploughing through Grimm at the moment, that is enjoyable nonsense.

I am loving the nonsense that is Reign.
And Anne of Green Gables is in it and she is magnificent.
