I have just bought this dress. I have these boots to wear with it. But what colour tights. The lady in the shop said brown tights but I don't have any. Could I wear black? I also have navy blue and light sort of charcoal tights. - Help please. I have to go out soonish and don't want to look like a fool.

I would go for the charcoal shade. Black will be too harsh, imo and navy is just adding another colour to the mix. Am assuming the stripe in that dress is grey??

I'd go with the charcoal too.

Oh poo. I have just realised that the only coat I have is navy. I'm useless at buying clothes. This is the first time in years that I've worn something that isn't jeans.

okay well the coat can be forgiven because unless you are going somewhere seriously formal then people rarely have a coat which matches their outfit beneath (although....sshhh don't tell my DH as I probably do have a coat in every colour )

Not formal at all. Out for a birthday meal but to a pub type place. I'll take my coat off as soon as I get there. Going to try on all the clothes together to see how strange I look. Thanks for the help. Be back soon.

I have those boots Muffin and black tights look fine with them.

well in that case Muffin, would definitely wear charcoal tights with the dress & boots. Don't even factor in the shade of coat as you won't have it on longer than 5 mins in the pub.

BTW, think the outfit is gorgeous Love that dress!

Okay. Tried on both the black and charcoal tights. They both seem to go but the charcoal go better.
Have just realised though that the dress is rather thin and I'm chilly. I'm going to wear a black long sleeved top underneath. Does this change what colour the tights should be?

In my mind, no black top under dress = charcoal tights but black top under dress = black tights.

I think I agree with you NorkilyChallenged.

I messed it up but it's normally jmo/jmho (just my opinion, just my humble opinion as a variant of imo/imho in my opinion. I managed to garble it though, sorry!

Any what colour is that dress? Navy? Grey? It's hard to tell on the pic but I really like it. And how long is it on you? The last tunic I got there was a bit short for me (I'm 5'6) to wear with just tights or leggings so have had to wear jeans (and don't do skinnies due to thigh width)

You can answer all these questions after you have had your night out You will look great.

Ah, I thought that JM were the initials for a person. I'm now sitting in my bedroom waiting to venture into the living room where everyone will stare at me because I'm not wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

Oh stroll in nonchalantly, like you haven't even noticed you don't have jeans on

You will have a great time and this might be the start of a bright new jeans-less dawn for you (I dream of such a day myself)

The dress is black and grey. They also have a red one which looks great in the picture and on the hanger but not so good on. It comes to about 3-4 inches above the knee. I'm 5'7. My thighs are okay, it's my middle area I have to worry about, hence the name

I actually saw someone in the supermarket wearing the red one just after this post! It does look lovely. She was wearing it with jeans though, rather than leggings.
