Pressed powder recommendations please

my clinique pressed powder has finally crumbled and made it to the bin. No love lost really because it was pretty rubbish.

Can I have your pressed powder recommendations please, ideally in a compact with a mirror.

Also, I always seem to go for neutral or transparent shades, no idea why just that I always have done; is this really necessary or should I try to match my skin tone?

Mac Studio Fix. I've been using it since 1997 and swear by it, particularly since I am olive/Asian skinned.

ooh yes, the mac would be nice but my pennies cannot stretch that far. the colour of my powder is honey or gold honey - something along those lines.

hmmm so I'm looking at Mac Studio Fix as I used to use their foundation and liked it but is that a powder and foundation?

it's DP's pennies we are spending here, it's my birthday soon

I mostly only use MAC products and prefer their Blot powder over the Studio Fix. Blot powder is like a more traditional pressed powder whereas Studio Fix is much heavier and can be used instead of foundation.

I really liked a Ruby and Millie powder I used last year too, which wasn't too pricey.

Hard Candy and Urban Decay do nice pressed powders as well. I really loved my Hard Candy one as it had a nice texture.

I'd try the BeneFit counter too.

Happy birthday!

aw thank you guys

yes defo going to get the one I want, just need to make the right choice as pressed powders generally last a while don't they

going to have a look at that blot powder as I'm not sure my skin would be happy with the heavier studio fix (I think that's also why I always tend to go for tranculent powders as well, rather than coloured)

will also look at those others you suggested erzibetta, I used Ruby & Millie's eyeshadows last year and thought they were really nice. never used hard candy or urban decay but here is my opportunity to try them I guess!!

Definitely give Blot powder a try then. It is much lighter and doesn't make me feel all 'made up' like Studio Fix does. Also I find with Studio Fix that if you put a little on, then you might as well just plaster it all over your face as the coverage is so heavy whereas with Blot powder you can just dab it on in a more refined manner.

yes me thinks blot powder is the one for me

my face doesn't do 'made up' very well

If its for your birthday I would make sure you get one that not only does the job but looks fantastic when you take it out of your handbag!

I use YSL, its very good (I like a decent amount of coverage but not to 'look' like I am wearing it. Sometimes I wear it on its own with a bit of concealer) and it comes in a dinky gold compact.

However, if I had to go and buy one today it would be Guerlain (regardless of what it is like - although I am sure it is good) because the gold compact is just lovely!

do you know what you have a good point HelenMc - I was looking at teh Ruby & Millie compacts today and they are gorg, rather like a links compact

gonna have a look at the Guerlain one now, whether or not I buy it!
