Water intake

I need to get a grip of my skincare regime and up my almost non existent water intake.

I just can't get into a routine of drinking water. I don't drink enough fluids in general, and I'm always up in the night for a wee, so try not to drink after 8.

Water is boring to me, so I go though phases of drinking hot water and lemon, and fruit teas. 9/10 I cone back from the shops without the lemons. And I assume the fruit teas don't count?? Confused I also go through Berocca phases. Again, I assume it doesn't count.

Any hints and tips for helping me get into better drinking habits?

Thanks

I am the same as you, I know I should drink more water. To help me drink more I bought a litre sized bottle of water from M&S, drank that throughout the day and I've been refilling that with lemon squash and making an effort to finish it everyday.

Lemon squash is the only thing I can drink apart from bottled water. The tap water in our area is not nice.

Water is best, but hydration in any way you find palatable is far better than nothing. So by all means continue with the teas.

It doesn't have to be water. It's a myth that you need to drink 2 litres of water a day both in terms of the amount and that it has to be water. If your wee is clear to straw coloured then it is unlikely you are dehydrated.

Obviously an excess of caffeine and sugar are not good for you but all Iiquid all counts towards your daily recommended intake including fruit juice and teas.

I also find it hard to get into a routine and as I write this I realise I haven't had a drink since this morning. I find that it helps me to have a bottle of water next to me otherwise I don't drink it and that's what's happened today. I have a Brita filter bottle that I use a lot.

For a bit I was trying to set goals such as drink one bottle by midday, one by the time I finish work at 5 and another before bed. That way I'd have had about 2 litres at least. It helped but I didn't carry it on so I might go back to that.

And now I'm going to have some water! Grin

@waterpalava Have you tried sparkling water? Water at different temperatures? Room-temperature water is unpalatable to me, too, but I find there's nothing more refreshing than a glass of ice-cold water.

Herbal tea counts - I often infuse boiling water with fresh mint and drink that - lemon verbena also works well.

Herbal tea definitely counts! And rooibos (Red Bush) tea as well.

I don't like sparkling water, no.

I've had two glasses of water since I posted this, and I'll have a herbal tea in a little while. Good news about that!

You’ll just have to challenge yourself to drink more water a day. Eg buy a 2l bottle of water keep it at your side and try to drink it all in one day, then refill and repeat the next day.

Drink water as a priority, before other drinks. Personally I don’t really crave tea, coffee or fizzy drinks etc so I don’t mind water being my default.

I'm busy drinking 2 litres of water a day, have been for a week now and it doesn't seem to have made any difference to how I look and feel! Anyone noticed positive side effects from upping their water intake? I just seem to pee more!
