Searching for a coat/jacket for the school run

After freezing my arse off in the playground this morning I realise I do need to give in to the elements and buy a decent coat. Requirements include warmth - don't mind down jackets or faux fur lined type things - a hood, it needs to cover my bum and fit me (size 18/20). I can spend up to £100 on it

I've had a look but haven't found anything I'm that keen on. My usual winter wear is a proper woollen formal coat which isn't really the right thing for my furst year hanging around the playground waiting for my DC to appear.

All suggestions gratefully received.

How about this one, www.trespass.com/clea-womens-waterproof-parka-jacket ? Hugely discounted so not too much to spend if it's not your favoured style and fits your criteria Smile

I have a lovely warm parka style waterproof coat from Tog 24. It was about £90 but really it's paid for itself. Warm without making me sweaty!

It's this one, on offer at the moment for £59.95. I would really recommend it.

I have a full length down one from Mountain Warehouse, it’s as light as a feather. Half price at the moment. Sorry can’t do a link.

The tog24 coat is lovely

I’m happy with my dark navy padded parka from Dorothy Perkins £65 couple of weeks ago, it has a belt which fastens with a lovely slide buckle. Looks fairly smart for a parka

Watching with interest, just had the same realisation this morning in my usual thin woolen coat.

Any particular brands known for their warm coats/parkas?

I really like the tog24 one, might order that and see how it is. I like Sainsbury's clothes too but hadn't looked at a coat from there.

Something properly windproof makes all the difference. The tog 24 coat would likely keep you warmer than a Sainsbury's jobby.

Yeah, why do they make school playgrounds so bloody exposed - the wind would cut you in two. Tog24 one ordered, thank you!

In the end I ordered this one, the original one linked wasn't available in my size but this looks warm and cosy. I'll post back with how it is when it arrives.

In case any one was interested I test ran the Dorothy Perkins coat linked above and it was great. Got really warm in the car and barely felt the cold whereas my ears were stinging from the chill. Thumbs up for this coat
