I'm after opinions on this coat. I'm looking for something waterproof, but smarting.

It's hideous and not my definition of smart

It's not smart, no. But it's OK, if you like that colour.

Very very frumpy sorry - I would personally never wear this but depends on your personal style. There are 30 year olds on mn who go to top shop and then there are people waiting for the new collection at marks and spencer so really depends on your personal style

I just dont want a 'navy' one everyone seems to be wearing navy at the moment.
I just want something that will keep me dry

Sorry op but it looks like something my 68 year old mother would wear.

I like it! Nice and bright. The photo probably doesn't do it justice. I think "frumpy" depends on what you wear it with.

Decent waterproof coats for the school run are like hen's teeth..

If you like the mustard fisherman's coats then yes it is smarter and nicer than those.

Personally they are not for me though

PickAChew · 25/09/2017 12:47

it's not that smart but it's cute and will certainly keep your arse dry on yucky days like today.

Not sure it's warm, mind.

Not keen OP. The colour combination is a bit fuddy duddy..sorry.

Will we ever stop defining people's style by their age on here?

I don't love it but then I've never seen a bad weather coat I did love, my own included. But we all need one - well we do if we live in the UK. I'm not keen on the red but that's because I have a totally irrational dislike of jauntily coloured raincoats.

Seasalt have some that look mustardy coloured here Not cheap but normally rated well for quality.

OP If you like mustard have you checked out Seasalt? I have this coat in bright blue and it's so comfy (I don't care if it's frumpy it keeps me dry!)

Check out Isle Jacobsen, I was trying to replace mine for months and finally found a local stockist. They are rain and wind proof and ever so cosy.

The second one that another poster linked is nicer with jeans. I think the one you posted is voluminous and childlike.

It's not what I'd class as "smart" but I love it!

Uniqlo usually have waterproof coats in other colours than the standard black, khaki and navy.

Rains do good coats. Asos have them.

I thought JN that coat would look really good if you are tall and thin, otherwise not so much
I do like the colour though and I agree with you about ubiquitous and plain navy
