Hi

I am hoping against hope that someone can help
I have roseacea and my triggers are alcohol ( boo hoo) and sun.
I am also allergic to most high street brands of sun screen so if not red nosed and pustules ++ will have red hives and dry itchy rash

The last few years have had great success with Avene, a french brand who do a sunscreen factor 50 for roseaca prone skin but this year has been triggering pustules and a rudolph red nose just with occasional use.

I am off in 2 weeks on hot hot holiday, will be sailing and playing tennis and desperate to find a new face sun screen ( rest of body ok with avene)

anyone have good suggestions, the budget is not restricted as just biy it for me...family can have bog standard ambre solaire

I use la Roche posay 50+ anthelios fluid for the face and find it very good. It's about 19euro in chemists in IRL

La Roche posay anthelios is widely available in the UK, boots stock some of the range but there is a broader range online including a non perfumed option etc.

I feel your pain - have had an outbreak too, not entirely sure of my triggers but suspect stress is one which is hard to eliminate.

Am back on some antibiotics and soolantra to get it under control.

I use Bioderma photoderm SPF 50. I use it daily all year round to keep a protective layer over my rosacea, which helps. I also find Niacinamide by The Ordinary helpful for counteracting redness.

I have the same problem and now use the body shop 50+ face sun block, it's totally amazing. Look online for a code or see if they have a 3 for 2 offer on as I refuse to pay full price ever. It's £16 for 50mls but as I say I only ever buy on offer or using a code.

Have you become sensitive to an ingredient in last year's bottle of Avene or have they reformulated? If it's a reformulation, do you have an old bottle to compare ingredients?

Unless you know the ingredient or ingredients that are causing you problems, it's going to be an expensive game of pulsating red nose Russian roulette. Sorry.

Clinique City Block works for me. But no other Clinique products as they cause hideous flare ups.

If you have rosacea don't use the once a day stuff! The chemicals in them are quite strong, if you are already reacting to sunscreen ingredients.

I use a physical sunscreen on my face - Neostrata Sheer Physical Protection - as the chemical ones aggravate my redness. I use Ultrasun on neck/chest area as well.

Avene have brought out a new one it's called anti ageing suncare spf 50, it's fragrance free and formulated without a particular ingredient common in spf that can irritate. It is available in boots now it's not long launched and think it's buy one get one half price (my boots were sold out so ordered online for click and collect)

La Roche-Posay
Anthelios XL
Fluid

I swear by it. Water resistant, non perfumed, paraben free.

La Roche Posay again! You can even get one with a tint in it, like a light foundation. Doesn't affect my skin (most other things do!)

I use the roche antihelios Matt 30spf and also have rosacea triggered by alcohol and the sun and it's my favourite so far although I do also like Ultrasun for face and the one for family for the face.
