Does anyone apply their own false nails with success?!

I am ashamed of my horsey hands, and terrible nails. So many people say avoid false nails and go for a conditioning nurturing polish/treatment, but I wondered if anyone Does actually not totally trash their own nails when using false nails, and any hints / tips ?!

What kind of false nails do you mean? Gel or acrylic? I do my own gel nails at home and they are fucking awesome. I give them a break every couple of months, and use OPI nail envy to recondition. I still have strong, health nails.

Hmm, I don't think I know. I have bitten but not ridiculous nails, and keen to improve the current look!

Start with a manicure. Buy some decent hand cream and apply it constantly. Get them in decent condition then go for gel if you fancy it.

I use false nails most of the time, for some reason I don't bite them if they're fake.
I just buy them from a chemist and glue on. I get a lot of compliments on them so I assume they look ok.

I have thin, bendy nails that split, always have.
I now do gels at home and they look incredible! Saves my close to £40 every 3 weeks. (What I used to spend!)

Builder gel is your friend. It goes on like a thick varnish, stick it under the lamp to set. Do as many layers as you feel you need. Your own nails grow underneath so it may take a week or two to get the length. I just then add a gel colour to the top and they are done for at least 2 weeks-with horses too 🐴. A pot lasts for around 10 goes, and is only £20 so much cheaper then getting them done too

Boots often have the Sensationail starter kits on offer. Their lamp is very good. I buy Blue Sky polish off eBay for a fraction of the Sensationail price.

I absolutely ruined my nails with acrylics but haven't used them since my holidays last year. I used CND rescue and they've came in great. Like a pp, I also use nail envy (Opi) and find that good too. I would try and persevere with your own tbh.

In an emergency I had used even the primark 99p stick ons and they look fine and stay out for at least 5 days. They key is to shape them - don't just stick them on and go! Will see if I can find a pic

Use whatever kind of oil you have on hand and massage it into your cuticles every night. I do this on my toes too. Lots of oils work (coconut, grape seed, olive, almond etc) and you don't have to buy something expensive that says it's for nails.
