Anyone just not get on with gylcolic?
(17 Posts)I'm really fed up here. Have normal to combination skin. Tried various types of glycolic but feel either I'm doing it wrong or I'm sensitive to it could this be possible?
The texture of my skin looks better but seem to have developed a rash with the latest one?
what glycolics have you tried, using? I have terrible combination skin, I have stopped doing the whole routine all together, I was following Caroline Hirons. my skin wasn't great before but I thin the routine made it worse, so I am now trying to go back to a simple routine, cleanse and moisturise only.
the ones I tried were Pixi Glow tonic and Alpha h liquid gold.
I found pixi glow tonic mostly ineffective. Pixi pads brought me out in cystic spots! Currently using nip fab.
I've stopped using it altogether, I just use a cleanser and moisturise and exfoliate twice a week and use a face mask once a week.
I've stopped as glycolic has ruined me! I was using the Nip + Fab pads and they've given me the most horrendous breakout.
Same with pixi glow tonic.
Now I have acne and wrinkles
I don't get on with it. It gives me redness and little red bumps. I much prefer lactic.
I think it may be what has caused my awful skin, I haven't used it for months but my skin is dreadful, lots of spots, very oily and black heads makes me feel rubbish, I have scars on my face now as well. I have even stopped wearing make up in the hope it helps.
With glycolic you must be sure not to overuse it and to give it time to work as it can cause congestion at first. 1-2x a week is enough and see how your skin gets on with it. I rate alpha h liquid gold. It's very popular over on a beauty group I'm on on facebook ( the beauty collective) some of the girls have had amazing results with gentle usage 😊 Hope this helps!
Maybe bha would suit you better than glycolic. I use bha but use aha sparingly. I have sensitive skin as well and tend to be dry/combination.
You can get contact dermatitis from certain products. Maybe that's what happened to you. I think it's easy to overuse exfoliants.
I've stopped using it. I started getting really red, bumpy cheeks. I still use a lactic acid serum around once a week. My skin looks worse now than before I started acid toning
Thankyou for all the replies. Have helped. I may try again but veeerrrrry gently.
😁 at the acne and wrinkles. That's how I've been feeling.look shit. Feel fed up!
I use Alpha-H liquid gold, once a week only, I Was using pixi glow every other day, I may try again but less frequently, I wasn't exfoliating when using Glycolics because they act as an exfoliant. My skin is just awful, I get so frustrated with it sometimes, it makes me want to just peel my face off.
Can't use glycolic acid, it gives me horrible cystic spots. What has been great in getting rid of spots, spot marks and general unevenness has been Vitamin C. I use The Ordinary's Vit-C serum, it's great. They call it tingly, I call it stingy, but it does the job, I now have the best skin of my life.
Chad I have been looing at the clinique range it's pure vitamin c, I think I will give it a go, where do you get your vit c serum from?
Chad where did you buy the vit c from pls?
As I said, it's The Ordinary's one, I get it from Victoria Health as the P&P is cheaper:

Fabulous stuff, and it's a bargain.
