Strapless wedding dress - covering arms

So I have purchased a strapless wedding dress which I absolutely adore and feels so amazing on and flatters my figure etc the only problem is I have flabby bingo wings which i hate.

Would a shrug look ok and if so would you recommend a Lacey ivory one or satin one with the attached dress? Both would be with short cap sleeves.

I'd go with the satin one, purely because I feel that for lace on lace to work, they'd have to be of the same colour and from the same "collection".

Sponge I have looked at those but wondered that as it will be June would my arms get too hot? not found one that doesn't have shorter sleeves.

That's a very pretty dress!

Thing is, and I do mean this kindly, it's maybe a bit daft to go with strapless/sleeveless if you absolutely want to keep your arms covered all day and evening. A cover up kept on religiously (especially if it's warm) just screams of disliking ones body whereas sleeves are always just sleeves, IYSWIM. Just a fashion choice.

I bet you could find something lovely with sleeves for the combined budget of the strapless dress and cover up.

OTOH, it might well be possible to have this sort of little sleeve added, if that'd give enough coverage.

Regarding choosing a different dress. I fell in love with this one months ago It's not a fashion thing i just love the lace and the shape and when I ordered it and tried it on it felt amazing and everywhere else it flatters lovely. You know what they say you just know when it's the dress. My arms (only bingo wings) won't stop me wearing it as I wear strappy tops now I just want to be as confident as possible on the day :-)

I think MrsLettuce idea is perfect, using a fabric to match the waist detail so it will tie in with the dress. This should be straightforward for a good dressmaker. Good luck

You can get little shrugs with press studs that attach them to the inside of the dress

How long is it till your wedding? Asking because I had terrible bingo wings but 2 months before my wedding I started lifting 6lb weights and using firming moisturising lotion and by my wedding day they looked much better. I'd bought a shrug just in case but ended up not wearing it as I was so pleased with the result. If you have tanned arms as well they will look firmer (but remember if your sunbathing to wear a strapless top.

Bubbles wedding is in exactly 1 month! I've been going to the gym and doing weights and rowing but not helping tho it's only been a few weeks and to be honest this week I haven't been as we've all been suffering a shitty bug. Will buy one but hope that may happen. What exercises did you do with the weights?

I used palners firming lotion after every exercise as well, I think that also helped massively. I kinda made up my own moves so I don't know any names but I'll try to describe

1- lying down, legs bent, hands holding weights by your sides, lift arms up in an arc so they are both directly over your head, hold for 5 seconds, then tower gently to above your head, repeat 10 times

2, 50 alternating punches with each weight

3- hold 1 weight in both hands then loft up and over your head as if your trying to touch weight to middle of your back, then raise and lower aarms couple of incches 15 times

4, similar to above but weight in one hand, over the back of your head to try to touch opposite shoulder.

I basically worked these out by finding out which movements made my back of my arms ache and figured that it must be working the right muscles lol.

Repeat the above in any order for 10 mins. I also did hula hooping to tone my tummy.
I had really bad bingo winds, I swear if I jumped off a building I could glide gracefully to the ground using them just like a flying fox. I haven't done weights for months now so a bit flabby again, I might start again tonight.

My wedding dress was strapless, so I wore it with a gauzy wrap (see photo) because I think it softened the silhouette (and hid my bingo wings, too).

When I got married the trend was all for strapless dresses which I didn't want so I had little cap sleeves added to the bodice.

MaQueen you look beautiful! The wrap really suits you and the dress but I would like something that will stay in place with ease when I've had a few drinks.

I recommend the Tracy Anderson arm workouts, which you can find on YouTube. There's one called sexy arms, which is a terrible name, but it's a short 4 min workout for arms. There are longer ones too for when you get a bit stronger.
I did them before my wedding and they were great. If you do twice a day, there's plenty of time for it to make a difference.

I had a strapless dress and my amazing dressmaker made cap sleeves for it. It looked good before but so much better afterwards & no one knew it wasn't part of the original design. I think she charged me £50 for the material & labour. She roughly pinned it the first time I went to see her, I went back a few weeks later to see it properly done & pinned and then she actually attached them.
My dressmaker is amazing.
