Help me fix my face please

I get married in a month. My face is disgusting as is my body but hey ho can't fix that in a month!

I need recommendations for skincare products please, my budget is quite tight.

I'm 25, have 4yo and 1yo. Always always tired. Exhausted. Skin is dry in patches, nose covered in disgusting blackheads. Get spots on chin mainly and huge double chin and have lots of scars. Big open pores on cheeks. Have PCOS hence the spots and stubbly chin from the daily plucking.

Any ideas of what could sort me out in a month?! Thanks in advance

Hi. I would maybe start by going for a good facial. Anything else would just be papering over the cracks, if that makes sense, so you need to start with the basics. Try contacting your local beauty training college for cheap treatments … maybe even free, if they need models. Keep yourself hydrated, even if sleep is an issue.
I would try the Clinique counter at a department store/large branch of Boots. I think their stuff is known to be good for problematic skin. Most of the big make-up companies will give you a free make-over, if you buy any 2 products. So that could be your wedding make-up sorted! And Johnsons do a range of cheap cleansers and moisturisers called 'Clean and Clear' which apparently work brilliantly on problem skin.
Hope this helps and best of luck!

Loads of water, no alcohol, cut out sugar.

Last thing: you've probably done this already, but try asking the GP about your skin. One of my siblings is on Raccutan (sp?) and it has done wonders for her adult acne. As would going on the Pill maybe. Worth an ask.

Simple products are really good. You could always try biore pore strips for your nose. For your day itself, use a good primer - this will lessen the appearance of your nose. Cover your face in tons of moisturiser before you go to sleep every night (arms and legs too! E45 is good and cheap). Drink loads and loads of water. Also, if you don't do it already, getting your eyebrows done will make a world of difference.

Thank you! Will check out some of the stuff you've mentioned. Can never get GP appointment here, so that one will have to wait and see. Definitely don't drink enough, don't feel I've even got the energy for drinking..

I know. I am the worst at not following my own advice! I have to drink squash as I really don't enjoy water!

Worth just getting that appointment made. Anything they give you can probably be put on repeat prescription (other than Raccutan probably, as it's so strong) which means that you wouldn't need to go in each time.

You may find that if you drink enough it will give you a little more energy.

Try eating lots of tomatoes, that tends to do my complexion good. And make sure you are getting enough vitamins in general.

Dermalogica saved my life. You can order online as well as look for local salons that offer their professional skin mapping.

My skin looked a hundred times better after about 2 weeks and I have now been using it for 3 months.

All on the recommendation of a colleague who was fed up of me moaning so asked his wife what she used haha

I agree with the water & cutting sugar also change to dairy free nut or oat milk un sweetned. Drink green tea and don't forget to take time out to de- stress.

I would start taking zinc supplements like cytoplan.

Stay away from harsh skincare this is good

I will up the water, I don't drink tea/coffee/fizzy drinks and rarely alcohol. Cutting out sugar will be hard! Trying to cut out carbs but struggling.

I've just booked myself a dermalogica facial for next week, so will see how that goes.

I have booked someone to do my make up so that's a bonus! Thanks for all the suggestions

Just beware that you have the right facial for your exact situation right now. What i mean is:

You get married in one month. That is roughly the time it takes for your skin to renew itself naturally. (we shed skin all the time replaced by new cells gradually making their way to the surface and so on). The risk you take with certain cleansing facials is bringing out spots/blemishes just in time for your wedding. Disaster!

Be gentle on your skin - the drinking water, cutting our sugar, GENTLE cleansing and moisturise lightly every AM and PM suggestions are best for good SAFE results for the big day in a month.

I got a fab prescription from my GP but sadly cannot remember the name but it cleared my spots up in no time. It came as a powder and the pharmacist added the water and it was applied via a sponge that sat directly on the top of the bottle. He said it glowed white under UV light. Perhaps using those clues you could ask your pharmacist what its called and then ask for it from your doc? My GP at first said my spots were hormonal as if thats the way to say, so we'll do nothing. I insisted and he prescribed the wonder powder.

Instead of cutting out carbs, try swapping the simpler carbs like white rice, white flour/bread/pasta, potatoes for brown rice or quinoa, wholegrains for bread etc, cut out cakes and biscuits and sweets and try sweet potatoes.

Try yoga as well to help with the stress in the build up. I love it and you don't have to be lean and mean to do it. Yoga with Adriene is AWESOME.

I hope the wedding prep goes well. Remember, you are meant to enjoy yourself Smile

Kevin does Zineryt ring a bell it says powder and solvent that is mixed by the chemist ?

Report
OlennasWimple · 18/01/2017 16:45

Cetaphil cleanser with a clean flannel every day - wet your face, rub the cleanser in carefully then wash off with small, gentle circular motions

Moisturise (remember your neck too!)

Biore pore strips might help get your nose sorted out too

I think Kevin's wonder powder was Zineryt. It's an antibiotic liquid, that I've found worked well, but a pain to apply on bits of my face and on my back.

Apart from a brand of the pill that doctors don't want to prescribe any more (Dianette), the best treatment I've found is spirolactanone tablets along with an antibiotic gel. Worth asking your GP if they can prescribe this for you - it's definitely worth getting an appointment sorted, nothing over the counter works as well as prescription drugs IME

Zynerit is brilliant for cystic acne, if that's what OP has.

Water.. Hyaluronic acid in your moisturiser. If you can afford it see a dermatologist and ask for fraxel, use skin products such as medik8, skinceuticals etc.. But really see a dermatologist to work out a plan

Yes! Zynerit it should be called Ziterit Grin
