Last night I cleansed my face using milk!

I have a case of winter skin - dry and flaky due to the sudden change in weather and putting the central heating on.

Tried all my usual tricks but nothing was working, I read that milk is meant to be great for flaky skin,soooooo....

I did it and my skin has been transformed overnight!!Shock

I took a wash cloth and wetted it with the milk and washed my fave with it just like you do when you double cleanse. Then I rinsed it off and all my flaky bits had gone and my skin was really smooth.

I moisturised as normal with Aveeno and this morning my skin feels amazing.

Can't quite believe it and not sure exactly why it works but it does!Shock

It works on account of the lactic acid, an AHA used often in skincare for chemical exfoliation. Don't know how wise it is as a daily cleanser but mixed in equal parts with honey makes for a nice treatment mask (yoghurt works too), would personally only consider it with organic dairy though on account of the presence of hormones in non organic dairy.

Ah,that makes sense. I can't use any nip and fab or Pick Glow stuff as my skin is too sensitive so this is a nice alternative.

Yes lactic acid is a far gentler AHA than glycolic and often recommended to those who can't tolerate glycolic.

I think Clarins do an exfoliator with it (it's pretty full on though) and The Ordinary are selling two different concentrations of it for a reasonable price.

I'll give that a try.

Another cheap skin care fix is an aspirin face mask. When I have a bath I clean by face and then add a few drops of water to six dispersible aspirin and apply to damp face. I lie there for about ten minutes and then rinse off. If I ever get compliments about my skin it's always after using an aspirin face mask.
About 25p for a pack of 16 tablets, I try to do it once a week.

I tried the aspirin trick but didn't work for me sadly.

Next time I'll soak the wash cloth and use it as a face mask for ten mins.

You might have a slight yellowy tinge but not too bad. I've done one of a morning before and then gone out and I haven't noticed anyone staring Grin

Great! Any other tips anyone? I don't use commercial products, for Eco reasons. This is a great addition.
