I am contemplating ordering it as it looks beautiful (on the model Grin) and would fit in with my lifestyle (bending and stretching for my toddler without flashing my cleavage).

I've got quite the tummy after 4 c-sections so just wordering if the ruching is forgiving?

Also, can you advise on whether medium or large would be better for an apple size 14? I've had a look at some of the reviews and can't get a clear indication of which would be best.

Thanks!

You'll only know for sure if you get one to try on. I ordered it in black and had to send it back as it highlighted my tummy if anything and my sister who was with me when it arrived thought it looked a bit cheap as in tarty. I'm a tall14.

They have started to sell Hush in John Lewis

I am not in the UK so I have to take the plunge when buying online, cross my fingers, and hope for the best.

Never thought I'd see Hush and tarty and cheap mentioned in the same paragraph MitfordhonsGrin

I bought their black jumper with the ecru stars on last winter, in large, and it's bloody mahoosive (and too warm, what was I thinking?) I think that garment may have been the victim of freakily bad sizing though.

I spotted them in JL (it's just three stores the lady told me) and thought the quality looked good.

I love love love mine, have both summer and winter versions and find it so comfy and adaptable. I am a fairly slim 8/10. I think you need to try it and it would possibly be more forgiving slightly larger as the top would slightly overhang your tummy. If your order medium and large you'd get free delivery and returns so nothing to lose.

Nearlyadoctor, I had a feeling you would know about this dress, thank you. I did a Hush search before starting this thread so as not to duplicate and saw you like like their clothes too.

Yes, I am veering towards a large as I am big on top (even when I am a smaller size on the bottom).

The knitwear I got from there last year was so ridiculously huge it has made me hesitant (really long sleeves without ribbing to fold back for example). No free returns from here and the exchange rate hoiks up the price. Just trying to bag a bargain with the 10% discount code!

The 10% discount code is AW1610 in case you didn't already know btw.

I have both Summer and Winter versions. I am size 12 and small fits fine, so I would go for medium if you are size 14.

I have the navy summer version and the winter version in black and in burgundy. Love them, check em on, wear with boots and opaques or dress up with heels. I think they come up big, all hush clothing is big bar some of the t-shirts which have been poor quality for the £££ and I've sent back.

Martin - if there are no free returns i think you'll just have to go with your instinct / blues advice re sizing. I notice Blue wears a small which is also what I wear, although I do wear xs in most of their other clothes. Only you know if your a big or small 14 so to speak.
Best of luck and fingers crossed for you.

Trying to decide between green and burgundy now!!!

And yes Martin love their clothes - only discovered them last year and no one else around here ( southwest) seems to wear it / have discovered them. I used to like Crew/ Joules / jack wills etc 10 years ago but now we have one of everything in our nearest city everyone wears it. Just hope we don't get Hush in our John Lewis!

OK, I am a shortarse (5ft 2") and often a 12 on the bottom (although post summer indulgence has me a definite 14 all over). I am a 14 on top so always veer towards a more generous size there.

I had the summer one in navy. I am a 10/12. I had the medium. It was a good fit. If you are a 14, the medium will stretch but you may prefer the look of the large. Less clingy. I had the skirt in small and it was very clingy so I bought the medium and it's perfect. I am pear shaped with a mum tum!

If that's a Rosie dress - knitted top very floaty short skirt, I've got a S/M ! No help obviously.

I have the burgundy Tara dress from last year - I was a size 12 and had the medium and it was quite roomy in the top half. I'm also short and it fits fine - the ruched skirt means you can adjust the length. I got loads of wear out of it last year and thought the quality was good, but since then I've only had rubbish purchases from hush that I've had to send back!

I love the hush Tara dress and have it in navy summer version and maroon winter. I have a post c section tummy and find it flattering. I am a size 12 and buy medium. It's dead versatile and easy to style. I also have 4 annabelle dresses! 3 long sleeve and 1 short sleeve. Again lovely but I need to wear with leggings or skinny jeans as quite short at the front and side slits. Another one that is dead easy to dress up or down and requires no ironing- hurray!!

I think Hush comes up big - I a a 10/12 and my tops from there are all size small. I have the ruched skirt which is the base for the Tara dress in M, and it's perfect, but I am quite hippy.

I've just bought the green Tara dress. In the old days I would have said I was an hourglass but have a bit more round the tummy but nowhere near an apple. I'm a short (5'2") size 14 (so 12 in places like Boden, Next, White Stuff etc) and bought a large but wish I'd got a medium as well because I think that might have been better. But I couldn't wait to replace it so stuck with the large, the skirt fits well but not sure if a medium top might have been better.

If you are an apple you might need to beware - see this thread.

Hush only go up to a size 16 or a size XL so would be fair to assume a 14 is L?

Thanks for the link SueTrinder. I sound somewhat similar to you (an hourglass once upon a time, 5ft2", size 12/14 but pregnancy has definitely taken it's toll here). If I buy the dress my tummy will be well hidden. I am quite good at layering and draping in order to hide my mid-section (especially with winter clothing). I would wear it under a cardigan with thick suck-me -in opaque tights and knickers. I would never consider the summer version like the OP in the link (even though I wore the Boden ruched skirt this summer), I would just feel too exposed.

The green one is calling out to me!

OP I love love love mine. I wore the green one on Friday night. I'm a size 8 but a 44 y/o size 8 not a lithe 20 y/o one if you understand?

You can mess with the ruches a bit to suit.

I would buy another, but have too many of their ruched skirts, which could be an option with an oversized jumper?

I tried it on in John Lewis and didn't like it. The bottom half was fine but the top half was way too baggy. Also the colour is more a browny burgundy than wine, and looks a bit dull IRL.

I bought this dress recently as I had some birthday money to spend on me for a change, but had to return. It looked awful on me. I bought the skirt instead and that is fabulous, looks great with everything and I shall wear it a lot. I am always looking for the perfect dress and have yet to find it, I really had hoped this was it!
