Are Coatigans going to become a 'thing'?

My initial thoughts are it's silly. But I thought skinny jeans were stupid when they first came out however many years ago. And now most of my jeans are skinny. Also, sleeveless coats are silly, but they were/are a thing. and I have one stuffed somewhere

There was an article in The Times Sytle magazine a couple of weeks back saying they are going to be all over the place this winter but mostly worn by joules and Boden loving types. So not edgy.
I've had a few over the years though, I had an orangy mustard coloured one that made me look like a giant fish finger.

I think they only work on people going house/car/destination - otherwise not warm enough or waterproof for outdoors, but too hot to wear inside. They're not my bag, but I realised this after shelling out for a really expensive Arran cardigan which looks amazing but has barely ever been on.

I have a few zara ones... I live on the continent and it's rarely coat hot, and I like them because they cover my arse (pear shaped) so I can get away with skinny jeans (good calves!)

Despite being wearable on only perhaps one day a year - a day when it's cold enough for such a garment but not too cold, and there's no chance of rain - these will be popular.

I'm going to see them over an outfit of White Stuff tunics, leggings and clompy boots very regularly, I'll warrant.

I like a nice chunky cardigan in winter, but I live in Sydney and don't often need a big coat.

I don't really understand these. I feel like stores are good at selling us things that we picture ourselves out and about in but I spend most of my time going car office car home so they just don't work. You can't wear these inside as in winter the heating is usually on and you'd boil on a train or in a shop. They basically work for the one October week where it's dry and crisp and for those days I'd rather wear a nice leather jacket!

I have this one. It's more jackety looking but is quite light to wear. It's just right for work - I don't need a heavy coat when I drive there then park and walk to the door! Not keen on the one linked, it just looks like a cardi to me.

That gorgeous Felicia! I bought a wool one in light oatmeal colour from TKMaxx recently but it's been too warm to wear it, can't wait for it to get cooler!

It's so nice on, I can't wait to wear it. It's great for when I want to nip to the corner shop but don't want to put a bra on jeans and boots with my pj top and I'm done!

I love mine - have a superb Joseph red one that I thought would make me look like back and front of no 22 bus but no. The belts are twatty on all of them and must be binned, but the autumn weather suits them well. Useless when Nov and the rain hit.

They're fine for the South East. Last year is the first year I didn't wear a coat at all. Not once. Just a slightly thicker cardigan and a scarf. And a brolly.

So weird. No coat in January or February.

i loved coatigans...and then when my coatigan got old and ratty I turned it into a cardigown and would slimp about the house in it with my jammies underneath ...my house is very cold!

I don't think the one in OP is a coatigan! It's a long belted cardi.

I have a Zara one, it's more of a lightweight boiled wool coat. It's amazing for Spring/Autumn, and probably my favourite of all coats I own. Definitely fills a gap in my wardrobe.

Felicia I went through a phase with the market boutique last year and ended up with 4 of those cardigans, I love them for winter. The cream one is my favourite and best.

I like a coatigan, but am old for my years and don't give a shit about high fashion. If it's warm enough for prancing about outside my classroom in winter that's pretty much all I ask.

Cardigown :) I have a habit of collecting coats and dressing gowns. What a riveting life I lead.... what about a Coatigown for nipping to the shops bra-less?

Ew. A man came to the door when I was just in my p-js, braless asking to borrow some car thing and I had to go outside to get something from my car (spark plugs or something - I had them!), It was cold out. I was so overcome by having something useful, off I flounced, in the cold. A Coatigown would have been handy... Or maybe I should have just got dressed. It was late afternoon :D

I wear mine as a cardigown too! Or like a house coat. I hate dressing gowns.

That aside, they are useful for spring/Autumn school runs or nipping out.
