What trainers are in now?

My old black Nike Air Theas have died and I need a new pair of trainers for 'leisure' wear as opposed to for sport.

I don't want to buy Stan Smiths as everyone at work has them. I want bit quite chunky trainers like the Nikes rather than thinner Converse types.

What sort of trainers are cool now? I want to look vaguely current - these are to wear with jeans at weekends, maybe to work on Fridays, that sort of thing.

If anyone is more fashion savvy than me I'd love to know what's in right now. (And I know this sounds rather tragic, sorry for that).

Thank you!

These are what I'm replacing. Wondering whether to get them again but maybe that's boring?

I'm not sure what's in, but I'm considering buying these tomorrow:

Or maybe some Free 5.0. I like Theas but I don't want to spend £90.

Huaraches are the innest thing going, according to my sixth formers.

Thanks all! This is so helpful and I love all the links! I like all of those, incl the sparkly ones which I have actually considered but I think I want tough looking trainers this time.

And I really like the Tanjuns, the only thing is they look nearly identical to the Theas I've just had for ages. Thank you though!

Those Huaraches look just what I'm after, so thanks for inside (young ppl) info. Will drag the children off to the shops tomorrow

also thank you flanders - I really like the Cortez and was wondering about the white ones with red tick but decided against them as they'll get dirty. Love them tho and have stared at them in the shop several times and defo would if I could afford two pairs...

So many to chose from! I have an addiction to Nike Flyknit racer but they are usually hard to come by through retail. I've purchesed mine through facebook selling groups - notably Wavey Kicks. Thats a place where the real sneaker heads reside Grin

Thanks all. I have ordered Huaraches in two sizes and hopefully one will fit and I'll send the others back. Am now too old to enter the fray of trying to get served in JD Sports...

I second the Nike Flyknits - I cannot believe how comfy they are. It's like walking on clouds. Also they're cool.

Oh, I forgot to say look in TK Maxx for nice trainers; I have just paid half price for some Nike Zooms for the gym and have acquired some lovely Salomons recently. Half sizes too!

I love Huaraches- I'm in plain white ones today but I also have some all red ones. Bloody love 'em!

I'll second the flynit's being comfortable and I'll always give a vote for more Air Max's. I have some purple/pink/orange Air Max Tavas and they're comfy.

Trainer speak is like Harry Potter speak. I only understand every other word.

Adidas court vantage? A bit less obvious than Stan smiths. Clarks trigenic flex (I kid you not), Nike do a similar style too.

All the teenagers have been wearing huaraches around here for the past couple of years, those and adidas tubular.

Oh and reebok also seems to be coming back, they're gaining popularity quickly. Reebok classics and the gl300 and gl600.

Adidas Court Vantage costs a lot less than Stan Smiths!
