Sunscreen problems

I bought some Roche Posay Athelios XL facial sunscreen as I've seen it recommended. I must be doing something wrong though as it just doesn't go on well. It leaves a slight white cast and seems to sit in my pores. Should I be applying moisturiser first? I want to be able to wear sunscreen daily (better late than never I'm hoping) under a bb cream maybe but I just can't get it right. Maybe I should try a something like Olay serum & moisturiser with SPF20, would this be better?
My budget is small and I can't keep wasting money. I've never bothered with skincare but I'm outside an awful lot these days and in my late forties so feeli should be doing something.

It did that to me at first. I put my moisturiser on first, then I go and have breakfast while it soaks in.

Then I put the sunscreen on and a bit of foundation on top. It doesn't leave a white cast anymore but I spread it around really quickly.

Just a shout out to Biore Watery Essence. Japanese (and Asian sunscreens generally) are a cut above. No white cast, no stickiness or greasiness. Loads of people love it. Available on Amazon.

What type of skin do you have? And which Anthelios xl did you buy? I've have oily skin and really love the Anthelios extra light fluid but remember having the problem you describe when I bought the xl cream by mistake. I prefer the ultra light fluid to the Asian sunscreens but I have tried a couple of them, biore and missha and they are fine.
Would definitely recommend taking a look at the Asian beauty threads if you want to overhaul your beauty regime. There are some amazing products at really great prices.

I love the biore watery essence sunscreen. Very light and easy to apply. Well worth a try and not expensive.

Isn't all the Korean stuff tested on animals? I dread to think how they test for sunburn on an animal.

It's mainland China that requires animal testing. There are many korean cosmetic brands that are cruelty free. Biore is a Japanese brand but don't know whether they test on animals or not

I wait 10 minutes after moisturising, apply suncream and wait another 10 minutes before applying suncream (biore watery essence)

Biore is on other lists as testing on animals.

La Roche posay is testing too. I need a new moisturiser now.

Oh no I can't use a sunscreen tested on animalsi need a new one asap. Who doesn't test?
I bought the non shiny cream one but it's like glue and it definitely not non shiny.
I just want something I can apply and not worry about. I don't usually moisturiser at all which is why I wondered if the play one might be good.
Do you know i didn't realise animal testing was still allowed anywhere. I must be really naive

Bizarrely sainsburys own brand sun screens are buav approved. The link mousie put up has the cruelty free brands.

Actually marks and Spencer's is buav approved. I get my cleaning stuff in sainsbos because it's cruelty free.

I'll try that one too. So many of the ones I tried were really tacky feeling but the Anthelios one was perfect

The Body Shop's new everyday sunscreen is the best I've tried. It's SPF50 abs it's called Skin Defence. £16 I think. I'm going to get a full size bottle this week.

They don't test on animals which is a bonus! (Although I know they are now owned by L'oreal, who do, but the product itself won't be).

I love Liz Earle products but the shine has been taken off them since she sold out to a company who tests.

Superdrug's own brand is cruelty free. I haven't tried their suncream but going to.
