Can I justify spending £45 on a t-shirt??

It's this one from J crew, which is frustratingly only $35 in the US. I really like it and have been eyeing it up for a while. But I am struggling to spend that much on what looks like a thin linen tee, similar to Gap or Zara, where they are less than half that price. (I'm answering my own question, aren't I)

Does anyone have it? Is it worth the money?

Go through Quidco for cashback and try THANKME for 20% off

Sorry, to answer you question, everything I've had from J Crew has been good quality, but you could definitely get that sort of t-shirt in Gap, White Company etc as well.

If you do order it, make sure you get free returns, I think otherwise it's quite pricey to return to the states.

I was in the US a couple of weeks ago and saw those linen tees. Yes, they did look very ordinary, I have to say. BUT I now try to buy all my Ts from J Crew, as on the whole, they wash and wear brilliantly. I think I'd wait for a sale or promotion rather than pay the full £45 though.

Aw! Did you see the metallic-y ones carrie? I'm disappointed.

I know, Zing, I agree. But it is a lot for a tee. 20% off would make it what, £36.

I really like the idea of the subtle shimmer/metallic look. I shall continue to dither.

Yes I saw them, JohnCheese. Ordinary yes (in terms of they're just a pretty plain T shirt - the metallic is quite subtle), but they will last. Honestly though, there's bound to be a sale soon. There always is.

Thanks carrie. I'll continue what I'm doing clicking frequently on the website keep an eye for a sale/bigger discount code for a while and see.

I have the gold one. It has washed really well and I wear it a lot. I can't remember what I paid for it but was at least half price in Christmas sales in the shop on Regent Street.

I don't know about J Crew but last year I bought two T shirts from Toast that cost £39 each. I was sick of Ts losing their shape in the wash and these were absolutely the shape and colour I wanted. They've worn and washed really well. I think it makes more sense to spend ££ on stuff you wear all the time than on a frock that only gets worn once or twice

I think you should buy it. If you love it and think you'll wear it a lot just do it.

I dithered over something a few weekends ago and now it has sold out. I think I want it more because it has sold out. I still keep looking at it.

Oh thanks! See, I think I'd wear it loads too, liberty. I got 2 stripey tops last year in j crew. Wore them loads and expect to wear again this year. So I agree Flo. And now that I remember, I did this dithering for ages before I bought them! Hah! Some things don't change.

I will sit on it a while longer. But I'm feeling the pullllll Grin

How's the fit liberty? I'm a 10-12

JohnCheese, I'm a big 12 on top and went for the large and it's nice and slouchy, bit slouchier than on the model.

yes - also they are lined and well made/finished. Look good with tights/boots in winter and linen tshirt & sandals in summer.

I've just ordered this with the THANKME code in the silver. I have lots of J Crew tees, the linen ones in particular are really good quality - I have a grey one which is on its third year of heavy duty wear and still looks as new. I really hope I love this one as much.......they discounted the gold one a while back but I've never seen the silver reduced so I gave up waiting and ordered.

Oh thanks shopaf. How's the sizing? And is it silver? Or like it says, gunmetal? I'm fair and looking for more of a silver. It looks silver. I'm really tempted now. That's you and libertyd both getting lots of wear.
