Trousers a bit smarter than jeans but just as comfortable

I live in skinny jeans and want a change. I don't need smart clothes for my job but I like to look put together but also comfortable.

I've heard people talking about cigarette pants, what are they?

I'm a size 12 inverted triangle with slim legs and hips.

Cigarette pants are straight leg (I think) all the way down. They look good on really skinny/boyish figures but for some reason I never see them on curvier women? Try them and see.

I prefer chinos. They are ridiculously comfortable and look great dressed down or up. I have converted a few friends who would never have bought them for themselves but they like how they are so adaptable to whatever you are doing. Great with flats or heels.

Chinos are comfy, agree. They can be smart or weekend, you can get anything from navy blue to all colours of the rainbow, too.

I'm currently keen on Boden's 7/8 (ankle grazing) Richmond trousers. Very comfortable.

Not sure if you shop in Next, but they have "ultimate" trousers in skinny and cigarette style - cigarette is like a straight leg, close fitting but not skin tight like skinny. The "ultimate" style has a lot of stretch in them, they are so comfy. I got them in black over the winter, but I think they have navy in stock now too.

I'm the same shape as you and Gap bi stretch trousers are life savers. Definitely fit the smart casual brief, come in loads of colours, they are thick stretchy cotton that wears and washes well. Look out for a discount code, I got mine with 30% off

I'm currently having a bit of an obsession with Uniqlo 'legging trousers' - no hear me out Grin

They are kinda like thick jeggings, but they're soooo comfy yet look pretty smart- grey and black ones, and at the moment they have a whole range of Liberty prints as well which are just gorgeous if you like that type of thing :)

Thanks, have ordered some of the Next ones and also Gap bi stretch trousers to try.

Not sure about chinos, do they come up baggy?

Do they all have pockets on the hip?
I can never find trousers that don't have a pocket on the hip...

I bought 4 pairs of chinos from Zara at the weekend...cheap as chips, great colours and really comfortable and easy to dress up or down :-)

This pair is one of the more colourful options, I also bought in plain navy and black. Great for work!

op as a fellow invented triangle I find chinos aren't fitted enough for my shape, I think form fitting trousers suit us best

Yes to Gap bi stretch. Also Gap skinny ultra pants - amazingly flattering.

Me and trousers don't get on, love jeans though. Joseph stretch gaberdine trews do the job nicely, they usually have a few different styles to choose from, all of them are flattering and comfortable.

I get my local alterations lady to sew up all the pockets on the hip.

Those look like they might be a bit baggy round the ankles mrs
