Long-sleeved, long-legged cotton pyjamas that don't shrink! Why is it so difficult???

You'd think it would be easy to find something so basic, right? Nope.

I struggle to find pjs that are long enough to start with (I'm tall, but not that tall). Most of the pairs I look at in the shops are half-mast and look ridiculous on me.

I've had three pairs that have gone from being borderline long enough in the leg to being somewhere up near my knees after a few washes. Next and Monsoon pairs, so not exactly cheap (all washed at 40°, no tumble drying, so exactly as per the instructions). A Next pair I bought in the autumn hasn't shrunk (but they're viscose), but the quality is shocking and I've had to get the sewing machine out on them twice to make repairs where fabric is fraying at seams and hems.

So where can I get long-sleeved, long-legged pjs that actually stay long and won't drop to bits? (Preferably cotton. Size 10)

It depends how tall you are... Try Dickins and Jones from House of Fraser. They don't seem to shrink, but I don't tumble dry them. I'm 5'7".

Oh no I have been having the same challenge and came on to say I have recently had major success with Next which I see you have tried!

I had some for Christmas from joules but they are now almost knee length ! ( exaggerating only slightly!)

so I ordered several pairs from next last week and ended up keeping them all ! Now worried they won't last but initial impressions very good the synthetic ones can be tumble dried ( and have been successfully ) and I got a lovely 100% cotton pair.

I am not especially tall but liked the fact I could order long to allow for shrinkage.

Will watch with interest in case the next ones let me down!

Hush pricey, but excellent quality and I must have had some of my Hush PJs for 7 or 8 years. Cotton and available in tall sizes too.

I think Gap do tall pJs too.

I'm wearing some long sleeved long legged M&S cotton pyjamas right now. 2 washes so far and they seem OK shrink-wise. Like this but mine are stripey

Yes Hush, the Tall version are fairly long. I've loads and haven't noticed any shrinkage lengthways.

Totally budget end of the market but I got some PJs in Lidl at Christmas. Proper traditional checked type PJs, I'm 5'8'' and the length is fine and I have washed them loads already and no shrinkage. Think they were £7.99!

I'm 5'7 and the best ones I've got are from h&m, long legs and comfy.

I've had some lovely ones over the years from John Lewis' own brand. Not sure if they'll be long enough for you though.

I have Next ones that haven't shrunk and they have been tumble dryed. They were £30.

Oooh, thanks for the links everyone, I'll investigate further...

I'm 5'10", so I tend to find that unless there's a special "tall" or "long" option, trousers are often too short Sad

I was given some Lands End PJ's for Xmas and they are great-have never bought them before and am v impressed. 100% cotton, haven't shrunk in the wash and are v comfy. I'm 5"8 and the medium fit me.

My JL own brand ones are the best/least shrinking of 4 lots I've had recently. Bloody Cath Kidston ones have shrunk loads.

OP I have same prob re: leg length (tall but not Long Tall Sally tall iyswim). Bought a pair of m&S yoga pants in January sale - £9. They are wine colour, but who cares for pyjamas.

I could have written your post. I'm 5'7" and even I struggle to find pyjamas that aren't half mast or don't shrink.

In the end I bought some pyjama trousers from Primark and a couple of T-shirts from BHS. And why are pyjama tops so ridiculously low cut?

Those Hush ones you linked to Bike are lovely. I wish they were a fes inches longer though - even the tall ones are only 31"! Off to have a look at JL now...

Boden. Pricey but good.

I wear Lands' End men's flannel pyjama bottoms. I'm only 5' 7" so they are a bit long on me, but I like that as it keeps my feet warm. They are very soft and comfy with a nice wide waistband, but they are in 'masculine' colours which some people don't like.

I always have PJs from Boden and they shrink too. I don't realise how much until I get a new pair. And I'm only 5'4!

I second or third Land's End - not cheap but they still have some in the sale I think. They do separates as well. I like the cotton jersey ones and the cotton/modal tops (which are nice and stretchy but quite thin, so beware seethrough-ness in light colours if that bothers you). I am not tall btw but the bottoms are always VERY long on me! I take them up because they are so nice they are worth the effort!

I have some from Fat Face that are good, and not too short. They have a buttoned turn up at the bottom, which I think could be unbuttoned to make them even longer, but I haven't needed it. They are mix and match - the tops were a good fit on me too, would definitely recommend.

I saw some nice men's PJ bottoms in BHS the other day.

I have FatFace pj bottoms with the buttoned up cuff, even unbuttoned they are too short. I'm only 5'8"/31" inside leg. They haven't washed and worn very well either.
