Help me style this skirt?

I got this lovely swishy circle skirt from the sale rack at Matalan for £4. Bargain! I want a navy or royal blue merino jumper (or possibly 3/4 length sleeved fully buttoned cardigan) to wear with it, but I didn't have the time/inclination to go hunting, so I'm working with what I own. No special occasion, just want to wear it and look nice. What are your thoughts on these options?

A) orange jumper
B) white blouse under short sleeved navy loose-knit jumper
C) white blouse on it's own
D) white blouse under denim jacket t-shirts type thing

I would probably wear it with the white shirt but add a wide belt and long necklace. Do you have ankle boots? Ankle boots and navy opaques would make the outfit look more casual and daytime.

Def not option 2 that looks really frumpy. Option 3 is best.

Dont like the white shirt. Its too office like. The orange top is the best. The others dont work/look frumpy. I like the shoes the skirt and preferably a top like the orange but in the colour of the middle one [navy blue] would look really good too.

I really like E, but also B and C, although B makes you look bigger than you are, I like the look anyway.

I'm scared of ankle boots! They wouldn't make me look stumpy?

I don't own a wide belt. Probably should get one!!

I might go shopping tomorrow. ;)

Ankle boots and potentially a 'short' that sits on the waistline will make it look more current. Ideas on the Other Stories website for styling skirts like this. Or maybe on Pinterest?

Orange jumper, or do you have a white vest top and black fitted cardi. You have fab pins btw

Orange - but tuck it in. Show off your waist!

Orange jumper. Would be keen to see it tucked in as another poster suggested.

Orange again

I like C because you have tucked it in, so agree with PP thinking the orange jumper would look good also tucked in. Great colour combo.

White blouse on its own (C) or orange jumper (A) if I were you though I'd get a much more fitted maybe stretchy long sleeved white top than the blouse and perhaps even an orange top the same.

The White top makes you look slimmer on top and you also know what works.

Also not being unkind but please don't wear or not in that combo B top/jumper combo much, it's doesn't suit many people and ages you. You look younger (in body) in the other combos. Also think about shoes, orange again would be great also maybe purple or bright pink to contrast. Black wouldn't go. Maybe even a green (olive) colour. Someone who does great cheaper colourful shoes is Kate Kanzier and they have a website too.

Skirt is a good bargain by the way! Smile

Thanks all - compliments have been a pleasant surprise, and advice on what's current is very helpful! I will try the orange tucked in tomorrow and share the results here. Grin

I lost a lot of weight last year and am finally confident enough to really pay attention to fashion. Slightly sad that my blue jumper is frumpy, but I see that is true from the pics!

Are these boots too "quirky"? www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00KCIP0VO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1452895246&sr=1-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=navy%20ankle%20boots&dpPl=1&dpID=41-W3i2JePL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

I prefer shoes with that skirt, show off your legs, don't cut them off with a boot.
What about these if you want something s bit different - reduced too!

Option b = no. The rest are good.
I would not wear ankle boots I really like shoes you are wearing with it and the orange ones Sarah linked to.
