Punky ankle boots for teen DD?

TheBestChocolateIsFree · 26/12/2015 15:34

Last autumn I bought DD (13) some cheap black artificial suede ankle boots with a low heel and a decorative zip detail from TK MAXX. I knew when I bought them that they wouldn't last five minutes but it was a bit of an emergency purchase for a school residential trip abroad. Anyway, she loves them more than life itself because they make her feel like a gothy punk rebel from her favourite books. Inevitably the suedette came off at the toes immediately and has been topped up with black sharpie but she's had four months' wear out of them, which is fifteen weeks more than I feared.

So has anyone seen any ankle boots cheap in the sale with a low heel and a lightly punk/goth style vibe, suitable for a teen who has to walk miles in them (non-driving household) and has a disastrous tendency to trash her shoes?

Thanks

You may be best looking for Dr Martens as they are hard wearing boots

That's an interesting idea ccl, thanks. Unfortunately, given the moans I get that perfectly normal adult brogues are "too uncomfortable" and "hurt her feet", I think docs are unlikely to be a goer. Also, whilst I want something reasonably waterproof and robust, I think the level of investment involved in Docs would be misplaced because I suspect her feet have another half a size or more to grow over the next two years.

New Look shoes and boots are great, fashionable, relatively well made and inexpensive so they can be replaced frequently.

How about these here

In the sale at a good price, very comfy and real leather so better quality than the pleather stuff.

I think the ones I linked to are the grey ones, they look more grey IRL than in the photo. Other sellers on Amazon do them in black. Ive got them in brown.

Thanks all. I think we're going to have to do a major browse online in advance to pick likely candidates and plan because going to Oxford Street cold may break me. My parents took me shopping for pixie boots on Putney High Street on the 6th June 1986. They still shudder at the memory.

They were slouchy grey suede in the end. Very nice but the trauma took years off my parents.

I think those ones are a bit clunky.

Cheap suedette ones that she adores are these.

Check out Blowfish ankle boots (Amazon have a huge range for browsing). They do some really good punky ones, are decent quality and are comfy to walk in. Mine have survived muddy walks, death by pushchair and being attacked by a toddler.

Dig around and I'm sure there will be ones on sale. Most big retailers stock them.

Try underground boots. They might have some on sale prices.

Thanks all. Those studded ones are nice Tethers but she's a 5.5-6 and probably has a bit more to grow.

I do want to get them in person if at all poss - I hate faffing around with online shopping returns so much that I'm even prepared to brave the Oxford Street shoe shops with a teenaged girl in order to avoid it.
