katya wildman dresses - worth the money?

hello... was idling around online & saw this dress (the black lace one)
www.bombshellhq.com/collections/all

its lovely, but 225£!! Also seems to be made of jersey which I am not too keen on.

Do any of you lovely ladies have any experience with this designer? Are the dresses actually worth double what I would gladly pay at other stores (magical figure flaterring properties?)

Any suggestions for similar brands or a discount code for this would also be very welcome while I am thinking it over don't think I can bring myself to pay that much for a dress, but if it makes me look 2 stone lighter i just might

It's not a jersey, it seems to be crepe. If you can get a good, well made and well-fitting crepe dress, it would probably last you years. I have to say, I'm not sure how flattering that lace dress is. The way it hangs on the model is a bit frumpy, IMO. However, the Elegant 3/4 sleeve dress looks incredibly forgiving - I could see myself wearing the black one for years and it never dating.

I've never heard of them before - but this is £175 from Jaeger and this LK Bennett one is £275, so the Katya Wildman one is somewhere in between.

If it makes you look fabulous, it's worth it......

I have the feeling that Nigella Lawson is a devotee.

A very timely thread pdxs. I have been looking at this brand to wear for my sons wedding but don't personally know anyone who has bought one. I am a generous size 16, curvy not only 5'2" so not sure if it's for me I love the red colour. Nigella Has definitely worn Bombshell in the past.

Thanks for the replies ladies.. still mulling it over, meanwhile have spotted another brand Nigella likes (allegedly) - Diva London... more around the £100-£150 mark, some of the dresses look quite nice!

Price comparison vs LK Bennett is good... if quality same then might be worthwhile!

Hi there. I bought one of her dresses to wear to a wedding earlier in the year. It was a beautiful print, and lovely fit (although I did pin together the wrap round skirt so I didn't flash too much upper thigh!). I got mine half price in the winter sale (so about £120), which I was happy paying for the dress and quality. It's cotton and unlined so did crease and if I'd paid full price (which I might have done - wedding was getting close and I was getting desperate!), I'd have probably sent it back. They're also quite long (I'm 5'4) and in an ideal world I'd have shortened it a bit so it was on the knee, but it was fine and that's also personal preference.

That said, they're a beautiful cut if you're curvy (of any dress size) and I would be tempted by another (not cotton) if I had the occasion and finances!

Have you also looked at Saint Bustier? I've not bought from there, but they have some lovely smart/occasion dresses from different designers that range in price from under £100 to a fair bit over and are flattering for bigger boobs.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure Katya Wildman often does a 20% code with Red in the small ads at the back of the magazine. I'm pretty sure I saw this when I was looking, but it was a while back now and mine was in the sale anyway.

I like Filiboom bought a cotton Bombshell for a couple of 'upmarket' events this past summer. I got a 20% off code from the back of a Weightwatchers mag (WW15 rings a bell)
I'm 5'8, hour glass, substantial of nork and was ' still on my weight loss journey' - I still am! The cunning ruching at the sides of the bodice accommodate the norks elegantly. The 'proper' sleeve was a rarity in a summer dress, well, any dress and the length was 'just right'. All in all, I felt very good in it and I know I can get it altered. Ooh, 'good foundation wear ' also helps too!

I love Bombshell dresses, and have bought a couple when they're in the sale but I find them quite high waisted - I'm 5'7" and my natural waist is about half an inch lower than the dress's cut, so I'm constantly tugging at mine. Pretty though! And the jersey ones she did a few seasons ago are still my most worn, and most complimented, dresses.

Old thread but have discovered these dresses only now. I was always going to lose weight before splashing out... in these dresses I feel great and confident and don’t think about dieting... I have two jersey ones which are casual enough for daywear. Absolutely with it. £99,- in the sale, not bad.

I know this is an old thread but hopeful someone has bought the Elegance dress, I have just ordered it in navy for my sons wedding in a 14 (am a lot larger just now) I may get down to just below a 14 are they reasonably easy to have taken in (lives in hopeShock
