I've started reading the mammoth skincare thread the other day, and early on someone mentions that they found a way to improve their elbow/knee skin. However much I exfoliate and moisturise I have rough elephant skin on my elbows and I feel too self-conscious to wear short tops. I think I need specialized care. Please share your wisdom!

I use a bit of exfoliating acid on a cotton pad (the clarins one or liquid gold) to get the dead skin off after my evening bath/shower, then I apply a body lotion all over and once that's sunk in I spot treat elbows and knees with la Roche posay cicaplast baume (big tube from boots).

cicaplast

clarins exfoliant

BTW, I didn't buy the exfoliant especially for knees/elbows. I use it every few days for my face, neck & chest.

you need to do it regularly before you see results, IMO. Nothing will give you overnight results.

Thank you! Smile

I used to use Liquid Gold on my face, it didn't occur to me to use it anywhere else!

If I don't use Liquid Gold on mine they look like they belong to a camel.

Something with urea in. Like Eucerin 10%, it's amazingly moisturizing. And get a shower gel without SLS, or at least with minimal SLS in it - your skin will be noticeably less dry just by doing that. Aveeno is fantastic.

I have been taking oil of evening primrose supplements, and it has sorted knees, elbows and flaky shins as well.
