Ren/Dr Hauschka/Neal's Yard? Urgent help please!

I actually cannot scrape any more product out of my last pot of Clarins Hydraquench, so I need a recommendation for something to buy this afternoon.

My skin is dehydrated and flakey at the mo, but I am prone to oiliness in the t zone and my make up tends to slide off. I also walk for up to an hour a day so my skin gets a bit of a battering in this weather.

I can get to shops which stock all the above tonight, but not my precious clarins. Am looking at NY frankincense or rose and mallow, any REN or the Dr Hauschka rose day cream light. I have recently tried nuxe which did nothing for my skin and made me gag slightly, and olay regenerist which i reacted to.

Would be grateful for any thoughts Flowers

Personally I'd go for Clinique- Moisture Surge or similar.
NY frank is good, don't rate REN for skincare though love their rose shower gel, Dr H- have read mixed reviews not all good.

Cheaper versions- Olay 3 point Regenerist- as good as higher end imo.

Olay regenerist gave me an allergic reaction, have just thrown it in the bin Xmas Grin

Hmm don't think I can get my hands on clinique, I'm near a big Waitrose and an M&S with a naice beauty hall.

Avene and Vichy (I like avene best). Both beat ren and dr haushka hands down. I have dry skin and don't find ren, dr haushka, Clinique or clarins moisturising enough.

I've found all Ren a bit watery and not special.

The NY might be too oily for you? I had 1 of theirs and found it v hard to massage in- felt like nappy cream!

All quite pricey for a blind buy! I like Neal's Yard frankincense a lot; REN I have only tried an eye gel and this which was nice but nothing special; Dr Hauschka I rate highly, love the rose day cream but haven't tried the light version.

I did wonder that about the Frankincense stuff.

It's a no-go re avene, I have used that before and I do like it but won't be able to get to Boots before Saturday.

How about Balance Me or Korres?

I know but I have a bad history with cheap stuff.

I used the proper Dr H rose day cream a million years ago at uni and liked it but seem to remember it was a little heavy which is why I was considering the light one.

I've been using E lauder Day Wear spf 50 - in a tube- and it's nice. Light but moisturising. It's supposed to be just a sun screen but it's not - I use serum underneath then that and don't need another moisturiser and I am outside a lot. if you are near a WRose could you not do click and collect from J Lewis and collect tomorrow?

Could you get a sample of something to try until you can get some Clarins? Would be a shame to spend a lot on something you don't really like!

To be honest, I'd say your best bet was a small pot of Nivea to tide you over. I react to nearly everything but that, it keeps me really well moisturised but isn't greasy, plus if your skin turns out not to like it, the outlay won't have been ridiculous.
(Normally use Clarins btw)

Ok ok fair enough, I accept it's probably best to wait! Will whack some coconut oil on tonight and do click and collect for JL/Waitrose.

Clearly it is not the time to break out of the Clarins rut!!

I love Balance Me serum. It's one of the few products that doesn't make me break out and is completely natural

NY rose and mallow isn't very good. I would get the Frankincense nourishing cream and the Dr H rose night cream. Use everywhere but the t zone wher I would use a much lighter non oil based moisturiser.

When my skin gets very dry olive oil or avocado oil sorts it out in a few days.

You could try the hot cloth method.

The NY Frankincense is very heavy on my oily skin, but it's from their 'anti-aging' range and my skin isn't that old yet!

My go to is their palmarosa daily moisture, it's really good on my skin and not too heavy that I go oily again within a couple of hours.

I had a sample of the Frankinsense by NYR, but didn't like it, it was too thick for my skin, also wasn't keen on the smell. Dr H is lovely, but so pricey... I'm going back to basics and love using raw ingredients, which are more effective and more economical too! My favs atm are rosehip oil and moringa oil for day time, and shea butter for night time, when my skin gets very dry, it does miracles. I also add a few drops of lavender or tea tree oils depending on the condition of my skin. Highly recommended! It's easy to order these products online, just make sure to get the organic virgin versions.

Fwiw, I think you're very wise to stick with Clarins - the best of all mentioned IMO.

They are usually great at giving samples as well as really good size free products when they have a promotion on. I always keep a stash of these for travel and they're also very handy to dip into in emergencies like yours at present.
