Leather leggings

I think I want a pair but I have my concerns. I wore coated black skinnies last year which DH nicknamed my Dell'Ollio pants Hmm . Are leather leggings even worse?

I really love this look from Baukjen. Which is the way I would style them too.

If it is of any use, I am 43 and a size 10.

I love love love my leather leggings. They are my main motivation to shift my latest lot of baby weight - I want to be able to wear them again!

Meriboo do you have a pair? I think I would prefer to go for real leather rather than faux. Are they warm to wear? I cannot stand being cold.

I have real ones, they are lovely and cosy on winter days, but not too sweaty. Mine are drome, bought in the sale a few years ago. They are ridiculously ££££ now, but the leather is gorgeous, really soft.

Not sure about real leather but PU makes you sweat like hell....avoid!!

I have both real and faux (and a pair of ponte back/faux leather front leggings)
I've had the real ones for a few years, and got the faux ones from h&m last year (or the year before Confused ) mine are more skinny jean style than leggings per se.
They are warm to wear, which I love as I'm always cold. The advantage with faux is being able to chuck in the wash.
If you aren't sure, faux May be a better bet as they as less expensive?
There are some fab ones around at the mo-h&m always seem to have them in, there are some lush ones in zara too.

greengardenpixie my faux ones have a soft lining inside. Maybe it's cos I'm nesh and lizard like cold blooded but I don't have that problem???

I am the same age and size as you and have just bought a Joseph pair from My Wardrobe using the HELLO20 code to get an extra 20% off. I could however only stretch to the gabardine backed ones, which worked out about the same as those Baukjen ones. I was also wondering if they were a bit rock chick for my lifestyle, but the gaberdine back makes them a bit more casual and I can see them working with trainers for day to day wear (pinterest for looks if you can't imagine it, well I think it could work anyway!)

I have to say the Joseph ones are an amazing fit, I'm slim but a bit lumpy in the tum and hip area and would usually shy away from anything bodycon, but there is something about these that make me look great (and I know its the leggings and not me doing the work!) Although in reality i'd probably wear them with a longer top or jumper like your Baukjen link, like you too.

Let me know if you succumb :)

Ohh toptrumps Envy how fab!
Sigh joseph leather leggings are the ultimate IMO, they are amazing.

I ordered a Joseph pair and returned - they were a bit shiny for me. The black ones look better (less shiny) than the dark khaki ones I tried though.

Merriboo The half leather/gaberdine ones are lovely, and took a lot of selling on eBay of other stuff to justify!

Would love the full leather ones but even with the discount were nearly £500 - that's ridiculous for a pair of leggings really (will be checking in case pigs fly and they get reduced by 70% in the sale though!)

I wear mine loads, but they are more like thin jeans. £20 odd from New Look and the fit is lovely. very comfy, not too hot.

I got the faux trousery ones from Zara...haven't been brave enough to wear then yet.

Bet the Joseph ones amazing, their normal gabardine trews are the most flattering I've ever had.

Thanks for all the responses. I am pretty much convinced I should give them a go, having been reassured I'm not straying into orange Italian lady territoryWink.

I am thinking a slim fit as per the Baukjen version would perhaps be more flattering than the super skinny versions.

I'm in London tomorrow so will go & try some on.

What footwear do you wear to dress them down for daytime?

the next ones ( fake) are nice, not too shiny

There are a lot of Parisiennes wearing them, and I must say they do look very nice. A lot of women my age wear them and they don't look tarty at all.

No-one knows who Nancy Del'Ollio is here or Loose Women...

I would say it's very Emmanuelle Alt

Report
noddyholder · 16/10/2014 21:49

Hard to get right Agree they are Loose women unless you are slim attractive and a bit rock and roll. I keep seeing women here wearing them too matchy matchy and they look awful.

Report
Ujjayi · 16/10/2014 22:50

I err on the side of scruffy artfully undone... So I can work the whole parisienne chic/Emmanuel Alt look Wink.

Too polished or matchy-matchy would definitely be Loose Women territory.
