Do these outfits suit me?

I've lost alot of weight in the past couple of years and feel like I can change the type of clothes I wear but no longer have any idea what to get or what suits me. Both of these outfits are recent purchases that can be returned, I'm just not sure whether they work or not with my shape (apple shape - big tum and boobs and slim ish legs, just smaller than I was). I can return them! I'd appreciate some advice from impartial peeps (I will give my view once I know yours but don't want my thoughts to influence your opinion).

Thanks

Congratulations on the weight loss.
I like the dress, it has a 70ties vintage feel to it and is a nice colour. The outfit in the second picture is nice as well but the blazer is too big for you.

do you think dyslexic ? that's funny as it feels tight in the tummy! maybe my shoulders are too narrow for my tummy Hmm . The dress is very unlike my usual style, to the point where I'm not sure if it suits or looks awful. DH is Confused too.

You look great! Have to agree about the blazer though, need to get a size down.

x post, maybe a different style of blazer then if it feels wrong.
Really like your dress, where's it from?

Yes, where did you buy the dress?

The blazer is definitely the wrong shape got you but I like the outfit in theory.

I'm not keen in the dress but I think my judgement is clouded by it just not being my thing rather than not suiting you.

Get a smaller blazer. Also, I don't love the shoes in the second pic - remind me of those espadrilles Kate Middleton seemed to have had welded to her feet. Other than that, very nice.

BTW, Cecy Hall, you have inspired me to go back and read the Katy books!

Congrats on your weight loss, you have a really nice figure!

I think the dress swamps your frame, although I love the colour. I'd go either for a smaller size or a more fitted shape.

The blazer pulls across the tummy and the shoulders are too big, I wouldn't get a smaller size but find a blazer that better fits your shape.

I like your jeans.

I agree that the dress swamps you - it is too gathered around the tummy area. I love the second outfit - I think the fit of the blazer looks fine, but am happy to concede I may not have as good an eye as others on here.

Agree with all above, the blazer is too big. Otherwise you look great. I especially like the jeans on you. Not as convinced about the dress.

Great legs!

The jeans look great on you. Agree that the blazer is too big across the shoulders and top: I think you could find a better one. I don't like the dress, sorry - it swamps you and I think you need something more fitted and with a lower neckline.

I think they both look great! Smile

Well done on your weight loss. I would keep the dress. Its good to try out new looks.

I can't see that the blazer looks too big. Perhaps just the photo that's making others see that.

Thanks. the dress is from TK Maxx for the grand total of £24.99! It's a branded one but I forget the name of the brand, will look it up later. They didn't have one in a smaller size.

My issue with the dress is I think the pattern might draw attention to my chest/tummy and make it look bigger in comparison to the rest of my body as it's quite patterned/gathered, and given those are my big areas I want to make smaller I'm not sure. It's not at all like what I usually choose so is a step out of my comfort zone and I'm not sure if it's right or not (seems there are some differences of opinion here too!).

I think I'll take the blazer back then. If I could find a nice flattering top to go with the jeans I'd be really excited but I just can't find anything I think fits me right - if they are lose I think they make my tummy look huge and if they are more fitted they cling to my tummy Confused

Thanks for the compliments btw Blush I've gone from a tight size 22 to a size 12 - 14 :) [proud]

I love the jeans. The dress is ok, but you could get away with something with a much lower neckline and a closer fit. I agree with others about the blazer. It somehow looks too small and too big at once! I would find something perhaps a size down that doesn't need buttoning.

Well done on your weight loss.

Honestly, your stomach looks small. A fitted top really should be fine on you!

I'm the voice of dissent, but I think that dress really does not do your new figure justice. It looks too big and also too old for you (colour is nice, though!). You really shouldn't buy a size that doesn't fit just because it's a bargain.

The rest is great, but as others have said: the jacket is too big in the shoulders and bust.

You'll get more confidence as you go on!

Just checked, the dress is from great plains. Might take it over to DM and see if it suits her actually as I can imagine she might look good in it.

lookatmybutt yes thats very true. I went shopping today in 5 shops, tried on various things and just nothing seemed to fit/look right.

you look lovely - I agree blazer too big on shoulders and dwarfs you a bit tbh. I reckon you could suit a v neck too, make sure anything is fitted to show off your waist. If the dress was more fitted and v necked it would be even better.

The blazer- no- too big and old fashioned.

The dress- looks a bit 'blousy' with the detail on the bodice and the sleeves- makes you look busty and matronly.

Why not try a cleaner line- like a shift style with a waist?

A v neck wrap dress would suit your figure better

Not keen on the jacket - it looks more suited to a work type trouser or skirt IMO. How about a longer more relaxed style jacket ?

Not keen on the dress. The Great Plains Selina one above would be better EXCEPT that IRL it is very shiny. But one like that.

I like the blazer and jeans, but a smaller blazer.
