Duffle coat

Where can I get a good quality one? I am willing to pay a bit more in the hope that it would be timeless and look good for a few years. How about the Burberry one? Or possibly a slightly longer coat? I love this one but its from a previous season, not sure about the make.

bit early for a duffel coat maybe? I'm sure the Guardian Shop usually sell one in the Autumn - maybe google it and see

I love this, but it is only a cheap make. What I find annoying is that it is for size 18 upwards but clearly the models are nowhere near a size 18! I'd buy it if they had it in my size and I'm not usually a fan of duffel coats as I find them shapeless on me but this one is more fit and flare.

Sunday, I really like the originalmontgomery ones. I am not sure if a duffle coat will suit my shape but wanted to look at some as I think (with the right boots and accessories) they can look quite stylish.

Frenchatty, I haven't looked at Duffle coats in ages but now I'm hooked! Thanks to your thread I have been looking online and they seem to be a much more flattering shape!

I think I last tried one on in the 1984 and I just looked like a jacket potato on two cocktail sticks!

I had a Gloverall as a child, and bought one a few tears ago, classic designs, superb quality. My childhood one is waiting for DS to grow into it. It still looks fine 35 years later.

Last year I managed to snag one in Debenhams for under £100 - so pleased as struggled to find one anywhere else!

Didriksons sell lovely technical ones. I got one a few years ago and can honestly say its the best coat I have ever had and it had a pull toggle inside to give it some shape .

I have this one and it's lovely. I did have a fab Tommy Hilfiger one that I ebayed in a moment of madness - they do gorgeous ones.

Lovely suggestions, thank you!!!

Would agree that a longer (mid thigh, above the knee) ones looks best with dresses? Or are the shorter ok to wear with knee length dresses/skirts as well?

Inmyshreddies, is this similar to the one you were so happy with?

I actually really love the topshop ones. Mine is on its second year going (I have navy) and my sister who wrecks clothes is on her fourth year in baby blue, and they both look like new. It's also my warmest coat, which surprised me! They are a bit shorter than you are looking at though.

Frenchatty yes that looks v similar to the one I had, mine was a beautiful warm tomato red though. I am such a wally for getting rid of it! It was the year Cheryl Cole was wearing this Mulberry one - I was so in love with it but too £££ for me at the time. The Tommy Hilfiger one I had had a zip as well as toggles, with lovely long sleeves with woolly cuffs, and horn and leather toggles. Excellent quality and detailing. The Topshop one is cosy and looks great, good shape, but it doesn't have a zip and the toggles do sometimes pop open which is a bit annoying.

Thanks to your thread I am now obsessed with finding a navy duffle coat!

My original agenda for a coat this winter was an oversized grey one, but the lure of the duffle coat has enticed me! Ha!
