Stopped biting nails, now how do I strengthen them?

Have chewed on my nails forever but decided out of the blue about 6 weeks ago to stop and have been doing really well.

The thing is, my nails are obviously weakened from years and years of biting so they keep breaking when they get to any kind of length. They are so weak, they actually bend!

So what can I do to strengthen them? Getting so frustrated with my crappy I just want to bite them!

Well done!

OPI Nail Envy. About £18 a bottle and you have to apply it regularly for the first couple of weeks, but once you're away you can just use it as a base and top coat with a coloured polish.

I second Nail Envy.

Mine would bend/break/peel/not grow. Now I have to cut my nails (I don't remember ever having to before.)
I also use Avoplex oil and a glass nail file.

I tried Nail Envy and it hardened mine but they still split and peeled so I went over to Mani-Q which helped but I honestly think it is mostly time that helps. Mine are only now hardening up 2 years after stopping biting them, having said that I bit them for 30 years

I've had crap nails for 35 yrs and have spent a fortune on hardeners etc (squares of jelly, nail envy, sally hansen etc) which didn't work) but 3 mths ago I started taking a vit B complex and for the last 3 weeks my nails have been hard as, well, nails! Plus about £3 a bottle & it lasts about 3 mths.

For me renunail (from amazon) worked wonders, far better than opi. Also the leighton denny nail file stopped them splitting and flaking. My nails have never been stronger! Highly recommended

Eat a cube or two off jelly every day, in three months time your nails will be lovely!

Nail Envy is amazeballs.
Another mostly ex biter here - having the lacquer on the nails is a good incentive not to bite.

Gimbling jelly? Really? Never heard that before! I luff jelly!

Orchid definitely going to treat myself to a manicure. I'm proud (even if I do say so myself!) Been a nail biter for 30 years.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I think I'll do a bit of research Smile
