To everyone stressing about ankle boots, just buy these, they are PERFECT

I've been buying and returning ankle boots for the last few weeks, unable to find a pair that work with jeans/dresses/tights/everything and finally found the holy grail pair in Topshop. They look perfect with everything, sleek, simple, flattering shape, really comfy, and look and feel far more expensive than they are. They don't look that pretty in the pictures, but trust me they are lovely :)

They look lovely but sadly I need the top of the ankle to dip down a little otherwise they will "chop" my legs and make them look horrendously short. The search continues.......

They come pretty low compared to most of the other ankle boots I've tried ujjayi - they finish at the knobbly bits of my ankles rather than the skinny part, iyswim - that's what makes them so flattering. Might still be worth a look if you like them.

I have also tried about a hundred pairs of ankle boots on in the quest for the perfect pair!

Thanks for the tip off, I will give these a go!

Agree with the Topshop reviews too - if your feet are narrow get your usual size, if not size up.

Is the heel on the Topshop Adios boots really only one and a half inches? They look higher in the photo.

I need flat ones, but those Ecco ones are too expensive for me.

Phaedra I just measured them and you're right, they are 2 inches. Quite bad of TS to say they're only 1.5!

I've just ordered these but I know people are divided on fly.

Thanks TheBirds!

musttidyup - I've just bought the same boots and wore them for the first time yesterday! I have four pairs of various kinds of wedge Fly London boots and love them for the height they give me and the comfort. I think these are now my favourite. They look great with skinnies and as they are laced, give me more support on my ankles (which I need) than my other Fly boots. I have seen reviews criticising the quality of Fly but I've never had any problems with mine. Though that might be because they only get occasional use. I have arthritis so usually wear flats but as a long-bodied 5 ft 3", I sometimes crave a bit of height and my jeans/legs look so much better in them!

One possible warning on these though, is that they did feel quite narrow. I have narrow feet so it wasn't a problem but think it could be for some.

I can't wear heels, so shall stick with my docs. They are gorgeous though, but my toes would break!

They don't feel as high as they look Dawndonna. I usually wear flats (except on once-in-a-blue-moon nights out) but these don't feel like you're in high heels. 2 inches is nothing really. So far I've done two half hour fast walks in them to work and back and they are totally comfortable.

I've gone from thinking ankle boots are fugly, leg-shortening, 90s throwbacks to loving them Grin

Thanks Phaedra am a bit concerned re width then as my feet are quite wide and have a Mortens neuroma so anything tight width ways bloody hurts. Will try them and see. I have a pair of yikes that I can wear all day they are so comfy.

the leather slightly westen version of the Top shop ones is nice.
Ecco will be very comfy, but they are too dear!

Also they will be too wide foe me, my beloved Ecco boots were laceups I could pull tight.

Thank you TheBirds I do really like them but I physically can't wear heels, I have problems with my feet that means the slightest pressure on my toes breaks them. They have a lovely habit of snapping like pencils!

I've got a flat pair like that from New Look and love them, they go with everything!

No, I'm not. I've always wanted some gorgeous heels, but became resigned to flats at about sixteen. That was a very long time ago. My last operation was over 20 years ago. I have got lots of Docs though! Grin

Heels are overrated Dawn, I much prefer flats normally. I'm usually in ballet flats or clompy boots, which is why I'm so shocked at how much I love these ankle boots!
