Red veins on and around nose

Laser I think is the only way. IPL for generalised redness, and a more specific (is it YAG?) for the real McCoy thread veins. Go somewhere v reputable where they know what they're doing. Oh and be v persistent about sunscreen. For more fluffy advice, avoid coffee, spices, and use only v hypo-allergenic products, and avoid parabens, parabens are cheap preservatives used in cosmetic products, so you have to read the ingredients, any word with paraben in it, e.g. methylparaben.

I had IPL for mine and it made them worse - I think the place I went to was not very good. Hurt too

Oh that's awful. I don't live in UK, so if I want to see a dermatologist, I pay. The upside to paying is less waiting time, and you can choose who you want to see. Could you find a dermatologist with a special interest in cosmetic and laser stuff? There are a lot of cosmetic clinics around, but sometimes it's not a dermatologist running them. You need to check, and make sure their reputation is good.

I paid too, they don't do IPL for thread veins on the NHS so far as I know!

We are moving to the USA soon so I will try again over there because they are really bad on the side of my nose and down almost to my lip Woe is me!

I've been using better skin are and remembered only now that my skin is still palest yellow and the pink is thread veins around the nose...

I use Bare Minerals Bisque conceal or - fab stuff and I was seriously considering laser treatment.

Didn't work either so now use Bare Minerals bisque to cover.

I have got one whopper of a broken vein on my cheek that I would like to get zapped.

I have rosacea and have had my thread veins treated with electrolysis for many years. The treatment definitely isn't very pleasant, but how painful it is depends to a certain extent on the skill level of the person doing it and whether they have the most up-to-date equipment. When my thread veins were at their worst, I needed about six treatments a year (but as they only cost me about a tenner a time, it's not that big a deal), but these days I only need maintenance treatments maybe 2 or 3 times a year. It can take several treatments to get rid of persistent and large thread veins and can take up to 4 weeks after the treatment for the skin to settle down so that you can really see the results. Going by what is said here, it obviously doesn't work for everybody, but it does for some of us.

I was referred by my GP to a private clinic for laser treatment (would have been £125 per session!!) which wasn't very successful (and didn't last very long) and would like to try something more effective.

Had electrolysis 2 or 3 years ago with a beauty therapist and it worked really well.
Booked 5 sessions for £100 rather than £25 a session.
It did sting, and I had a real meaty one between my nose and mouth, but even this disappeared.
The therapist checked I wasn't going anywhere nice (ie a wedding or somewhere where I might want to look my best) as she said the area would look worse a couple of days after the treatment. All that happened was that the area stabbed over with very fine pale yellow scabs, which actually didn't look too awful at all.
I was so pleased at the disappearence of these thread veins, I could have cried and the effect has lasted.

I have my treatments at a local beauty salon (I live in Dorset). A few years ago, the person who was doing my treatments went off on mat leave and I tried another salon. They had an older machine, the therapist was much less confident and the end result was nowhere near as good and I never went there again. So, as with pretty much everything: try and get a personal recommendation in your area..

I didn't realise electrolysis helped red veins, I thought it was just for hair removal.

Maybe it'll get rid of the moustache & sideburns as well as the veins

I had a few and had them lasered.
Really hurt. i can put up with waxng, epilating..but this hurt like hell.
However it has worked.

Please get Veinwave. Expensive but it totally works. Don't suffer like I did.
