So..... I have succumbed and bought the dreaded mum bootsblush Got the clarks orinoco jazz ones in black. They are really not that bad and the best I could see on the high street within my budget. Bit tight though and though I may be a bit of a fatty elsewhere my legs are by no means fat-fairly slim actually. Hoping a bit of wearing will stretch them.

Am I on the rocky road to hell?<awaits tethers banishing me from s&b forever more>

<whispers> I like them

ggirl Sat 24-Sep-11 16:07:32

these are not mumsy at all imo
although i prefer the brown ones

cyb Sat 24-Sep-11 16:10:53

They look awfully wide at the calf. I saw some great shorter biker style ones in there

SueNarmy Sat 24-Sep-11 16:11:33

all boots are wellys for me

YouDoTheMath Sat 24-Sep-11 19:39:44

Oh God, I nearly bought those - and they're mum boots?!?!

tethersend Sat 24-Sep-11 22:05:18

Oh Pink sad

I did say buy them if you like them grin

I'm sure they're fine. I just remarked that the biker boot was fast becoming the new mum-boot.

Remember, you and I have to like opposite things, otherwise the universe will implode. Vive la difference!

moondog Sat 24-Sep-11 22:31:33

Mum boot is medium heeled, worn with fleece and a pair of very clean bootleg jeans.
Poss. alos dyed choc. brown hair.

Pink, I like them. Nowt wrong with Clarks. Plenty right with them these days in fact .

tethers-true but you seem to have aquirred(sic?) some good taste recently and I hvae actually liked a few of the things you linked to eg-the pink asda dress-lovely but sadly I did not get to asda quick enough to get one!

Still cant forgive you for the glads but am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you were on something thenwink

Think they possibly are the dreaded mum boots but think I am going to have to embrace it-turning into my mum anyway so why fight itsad

pink4ever Sat 24-Sep-11 22:36:53

I am lusting after some new look boots though that I dont believ are mum boots-real suede, wooden block heels-come in 3 colours-£50-are they acceptable tethers?
I am thinking good for xmas nights out? where obviously taxis will be involved so no walking and no need for sensible bootsgrin

TrillianAstra Sat 24-Sep-11 22:37:42

Call that a mum boot?

That's a mum boot

To be worn with stonewashed bootcut jeans that are two inches too short.

pink4ever Sat 24-Sep-11 22:39:14

trillian-I just snorted prosecco through my nose!<ouch>

tethersend Sat 24-Sep-11 22:41:23

I can't take this pressure, pink <sweats> I'm sure they're fine grin

Trillian, the mumboot you speak of is about to come full circle and will be de rigueur come A/W 12.

In other words, they're so wack, they're fly.

TrillianAstra Sat 24-Sep-11 22:45:13

You is down wiv da kids tethers!

pink4ever Sat 24-Sep-11 22:46:11

grin dont lie tethers-you love us needing your advice!
I am waiting for the new look boots to go in the sale anyway as I refuse to pay £50 for boots from there!-though I have embraced new look again after being reassured on here am not too old and knackered to shop there!

I actually did once upon a time consider myself a bit of a fashionista but it is literally since I turned 35 I dont seem to know who I am anymore!-hope to rectify this soon as have persuaded dh botox is the only acceptable xmas prezzie this year!

moondog Sat 24-Sep-11 23:33:27

Trillion ,that link is hilarious.
It is the Paltonic ideal of a mum boot and name so gloriously at odds with appearence, in same manner as that model of caravan that always has myself and Mr moondog shrieking, namely the 'Marauder'.

SueNarmy Sun 25-Sep-11 08:06:49

I am mum boot auditor it being my term originally. I don't even like hiker boots tbh. Too aggressive.
Also don't know what this offensive brown hair is?..

SueNarmy Sun 25-Sep-11 08:07:10

Lol hiker. Or biker

ggirl Sun 25-Sep-11 08:43:39

I think tethers may be right that black mum boots are coming back into fashion.
Was on a course last week and two younng and trendy ones were admiring someones black boots ..not unlike trillians link. I looked on in horrified silence.

SueNarmy Sun 25-Sep-11 08:48:43

I don't like brown anything

largeginandtonic Sun 25-Sep-11 08:56:27

There are tons on school run. Mostly worn with leggings and tunics.

I am chunky of leg so avoid all chunky boots/shoes. Quite like them though.

cyb Sun 25-Sep-11 09:07:28

I dont think the biker boot will ever become the Mum boot. Have you seen most Mums?

tethersend Sun 25-Sep-11 09:49:14

Haha cyb... We ARE most mums grin

SueNarmy Sun 25-Sep-11 09:51:18

It's the mums trying to be thrusting look of choice. I lol at the mums if toddlers dressed as of going on hike

cyb Sun 25-Sep-11 09:52:05
