7 for all mankind jeans - what's all the fuss about?

So, having dressed like a scarecrow for 3 years I decided to splash out before returning to the office and buy my first really posh pair of jeans (it's an office wear jeans are acceptable if that didn't make sense initially btw). Now, obviously I don't have a clue about anything designer but £150-£180 for a pair of jeans does seem a bit mad. Went for 7 jeans because I'd heard so much about them and I have found a pair that fit very nicely (kimmie, straight leg, in case you're interested) but can they really be that much better than other labels? I'm not sure if I can justify spending that much on jeans even though they are budgeted for and I haven't spent money on clothes for many moons.

I bought a pair of 7s in 2004 and only just charity shopped them beginning of this year. Cost per wear - peanuts.

I have several pairs, they are the best fitting jeans I have ever found. I feel good in them and I wear them all the time. Totally agree re the cost per wear point, bargainous!

I've bought 7 Roxanne's both last winter and this - they're lovely on. Only bought a new pair this year as I'd gone down to a 25" waist after DTs born but have now gone back up to my usual size so had to replace them! I guess I should e-bay the too-small pair as they're in really good condition? Oh ... and I got them for £82.50 in a HoF sale!! Bargain!

I got a pair from America, and they are a lot cheaper there, so if you are going in future it's worth leaving some space.

I also got a pair from bicester shopping village but not sure if the shop is still there.

I used to work in a shop that sold them, apparently they are really good and well worth the investment.

OK, you're all making me feel a lot less guilty about the expenditure. And yes, given that I've worn the last pair of jeans I bought on average 3 times a week for 2 years I suppose on a per wear basis they're not that outrageous. (Quietly nudges open door to whole new world of expensive clothes buying...)

You buy them cos they make your legs look like a baby gazelles! They are incredible and well worth the money.

There is a 7 outlet at Bicester Village.

Their bootcuts are a classic but I also like the Roxannes. (Skinny).

Worth every penny.

I love 7's but I hate the low rise ones. I love the high waist bootlegs and also the Roxannes. The bootlegs are in a softer denim material though and do actually wear quite quick. Still worth every penny though.

How on earth can you wear the low rise ones and be comfortable? It genuinely puzzles me - everytime I bend in them they fall right down my arse! Wish I could wear them.

low rise impossible to wear unless you have the bottom of a 7 year old boy and my boney knees have managed to wear knee holes in 2 pairs of bootcut so no not worth the price tag IMO

From my days in the US, I still have one pair of 7s and they are by far my best pair of jeans. Worth a shopping trip to the States IMO. Unfortunately, I lost some weight, and can't wear them anymore.

Low rise is impossible for most people and tends to look hideous (just saw a flash of post-preg ab flab at the supermarket checkout yesterday - still traumatized). I'm so looking forward to high waist becoming the new ruling trend :D

7 jeans are fantastic. I have had a couple of boot cut low rise ones over the years and they are such a good cut, the denim is softer than the standard denim, and they are incredibly comfortable to wear.

This year I bit the bullet and bought a pair of 7 high waisted dark demim bootcuts - having had a couple of kids I've found the low rise ones just progressively less comfortable around the hips/waist, even though I still have a relatively good figure etc. The high waisted ones are just soooooo forgiving and not at all "Mumsy" - they completely pull you in at the waist and fit like a dream They are worth every penny, and of course if you can get them via the US, as I did, considerably cheaper!

Cannot recommend them highly enough!

I have those high waisted ones Serendipity, love them, but the denim is so much softer and does wear out quicker. I wish 7 would make some high waist in the stronger denim.

You can get 7s in TK Maxx (don't buy "Seven", you need 7 for All Mankind) for tops £40.

I love the classic slim bootleg - they make you look thinner, richer and taller. Utterly worth the cash even at full price because they are so comfortable.

They are worth it, I have about 6 pairs

Register for brandalley, they are always having 7 sales and I've picked up a few pairs for around £50 each.

WOrth checking ebay too, I got some for £35 from America. Be wary of fakes though, I'm really careful who I buy from as the fakes are really inferior quality (once got stung that way!)

Kucking - Yes you're so right about the softer denim on the high waisted ones - but They more than make up for it in the fit and comfort stakes!

How tall are you 7 fans?

I just ordered some from net-a-porter and they're fantastic, but a full 4 inches too long and I'm 5ft 5ins. Can't decide whether to send them back, have them taken up, or fudge it and roll them inside boots (and er figure out the summer later on).

They are lovely, I agree. I resisted for a while, tried gap, topshop etc but the denim is so lovely and they really fit me despite my fat thighs and lack of an arse.

I bought a pair of the high wasited straight leg in black which are super-flattering. Also picked up a low waisted pale blue pair in TK Maxx for a bargainous 40 quid which will be fab for the summer. I am currently in denial about needing to get them taken up (am 5'3") but it's probably worth just biting the bullet and sorting them out.

I am 5'9" and they are a good fit in the leg, so made for taller people I guess.

My dh also has a pair of mens, he's the same height so needed his taken up so obv he is a short arse in seven mens world but they still look great.

I'm 5ft 7 and they're always too long for me. I can't put up with them dragging on the floor, it wrecks the bottoms so I have them taken up about 2" by my neighbour who is a tailor (handy!)

They always look fine, she does them using the same coloured thread and charges £3 per pair so no big deal.

Serendipity, I agree, I love mine.

I am tall too so the perfect length for me. Be careful on ebay - I bought some from there and they were fakes.

Why can't I wear the low waisted ones? Am I a freak?
