If the zip on one of your boots breaks ...

do you bother getting it fixed?

I'm trying to find somewhere that does it so that i can get a price but wondering if it really is worth it or even possible? Knee high boots under £100, ultra comfy and I would like to wear them for the rest of winter (only bought them 6 weeks ago!). Opinions?

If you only bought them 6 weeks ago, you could try taking them back to the shop for an exchange?

If you only bought them 6 weeks ago I think you should take them back to the shop TBH and either have a new pair or get them to pay for the repair.

6 weeks?? That's not long. They are clearly not fit for purpose so they should either replace them, refund you or at the very least offer to repair them for you.

I took 3 month old shoes back to Clarks when the velcro wore out. They gave me a new pair straight away.

I'd take them back. The zip on DD2's winter boots broke after 4 weeks last year. Shop replaced them no problem (was a lovely independent shop though, not a chain).

I agree, they should last longer than 6 weeks without breaking, so they were clearly Not Fit for Purpose (sale of goods act IIRC)

I would take back and expect a refund or exchange.

These are Clarks boots but bought online from an independent shoe shop - so I would have to send them back which is a bit of a hassle. Have never bought Clarks before - do they tend to fall apart then??

Yep, I got my long Timberlands zip replaced for about a tenner I think, at the local cobbler. If I spend that much on boots, I think a tenner to make them wearable is fine. But less than 6 weeks?? Madness. Demand a replacement

I think i should just spend the ten pounds if that's all it is!! Was it a total zip replacement BooBoo? The whole zip has warped - would need the whole thing replaced not just the tag IYKWIM?

No clarks are generally pretty good coffeenut, that's why they replace them with no hassle if they're not.

I would just return them to a Clarks store and omit to tell them about the independent store part .

6 weeks is no time, clean them up a bit and take them in for an exchange or refund.

I was quoted £40 (a couple of years ago mind) by Timpsons, to replace a whole zip. Needless to say, I didn't bother to take them up on their offer! Now the zip on the replacement pair (much loved biker boots!) is starting to go

Coffeenut you are being silly. Phone the shop you bought from and tell them the problem - they may replace or repair them for you.
