we went to tribunal today for ds high rate mobility and won. It was so quick and very easy. Simply going over the answers I had written in the original application (from last year). It took about 10 mins and then they said they had enough info to make a decision. They said we had been successful (yay).2 of the panel seemed quite nice but one of them was staring at me intensely with a really hard look on his face which was a bit off putting. Also they have awarded until DS is 7 (2012) which is a big relief.

sure jennybensmummy. It was quite clear cut though. They just went through the form I had written and asked me to expand a bit. So asked how often he had a melt down outside, does he bite or hit other children, how often does he scream (sensory overload). Ds is non verbal and severely delayed in most areas we had a letter form the pead to say he was severely delayed so we met that part of the criteria. They were questioning challenging behaviours and having to restrain him. WE just went over the relevant parts of the form- no danger awareness/ road sense/ stranger danger meltdowns anywhere etc. We also explained how we had been using his buggy until he was too big and now we dont feel comfortable taking him out alone because he can be too difficult to manage.

Moondog- I have not sorted the statement I have to wait 'til September to log an appeal (cant do it in August apparently) to be honest I dont know what Im doing with it. I did get advice from IPSEA and I know how to log an appeal but I dont really know what Im doing in regards to getting the right things put on the statement iyswim.

I am glad you got a good outcome. I am glad to hear that us asd mums are starting to get what we and our kids deserve. I am waiting on a review of ds2's dla claim and I was getting a little worried about it but feeling a bit better about it. DS2 has hue sensory issues and is severely behind, he functions at about 15-18 months but he is 3.2. Hope you get on ok with the statement appeal.

Well done, you must be so relieved. Still wish you didn't have to go to a Tribunal to get it.

Do, PipinJo. There's a massive thread on Timetorant about it where I've put my Tribunal statement on there too.
