OMG! MUM23ASD Has Given Her Boys A HEALTHY Tea!!!! (And....2 out of 3 ENJOYED it!!!)

MUM23ASD · 17/06/2008 18:11

Following on from the other night when i managed to get all the boys to eat bolegnaise - by basically pulping the whole sause in my processor-so it resembled slurry!!!!

well today i 'wondered what else i could create in the same manner'

They watch Sponge Bog...who makes 'Crabby Patties' so i decided to make 'Beefy Patties'

And just wait to you see what i used!!!

Into my processor i put.....

Minced Steak
Small onion
carrots
parsnips
cauliflower
Drained tin of tomatoes
2 CHICKEN oxo cubes (beef are too strong flavour for the boys)
And herbs

All whizzed up tp resemble the most disgusting looking slop possible.

Then placed in dollops on a baking tray and partly through cooking- squashed with a spatula- like spongebob does!

Served with the obligatory baked beans.

And ds1 & 2 ate it- and ds1 asked for more (which is just as well as the mixture ended up making nearly 50 small patties!!!!)

Ds2 even renamed them as 'MEAT-eorites'

Ds3...the BEST eater out my 3 refused to even chew the bit he bit off....he'd much rather have all the veg 'visable' on his plate with slices of roast beef- than patties.

So...me thinks....what else can i 'slurry in a hurry'...and get away with it.

and....its only 6.15 and they were sat up at 5.30...and finished by 6!!!!!

the reason for this 'flurry of slurry'
is that when i was making the bollocknaise i remembered that years ago (in a different life) i LOVED cooking...and even was considered to be a good cook!!!!

So..... over the years , after so many food fights i hardly ever 'cook' proper food.

So...Jamie Oliver...watch out ... MrsF is BACK!!!!

Well done - you should write a 'slurry in a hurry' cookbook!

Bit like weaning food I guess, but its a way of getting them to eat what the grown ups do just reformated. Plus you are in control of the ingredients.
Hot pot should slurry well. ditto any casserole type dishes you like cooking, sheperds pie is almost slurry any way. Pistou (?sp?) soup( mainly carrot and tomatoe with chicken stock and a dollop of pesto.) I make V thick and whiz it up to slurry and ist rather yummy. I do that one if boys not eaten any veg for days.
Bubble and squeak makes veggie patties.

unis- ds2 is the one i worry about most as he has constipation- and i rightly or wrongly always link it to his total lack of fruit...and his only eating carrots 2 or 3 times a week (IF I'M LUCKY!!!)

So, like you said- the soup is a great idea for the veg side of things!!

What i am focussing ds2 on is that it TASTES good...FEELS good....and therefore he doesn't need to WORRY what it is!!!!

I ought to blindfold him!!!

best of british luck to u. Its funny to think of blindfolding them isn;t it, but I'm sure it would work sometimes. If he'd only keep the blindfold on - not likley is it.
Boys gota thing about carrots- he think s they look like banana which he won't touch, but in soup he loves them, he loves banana chips too so its just a format thing with him not taste.
RAspberries off the bush in the garden - Yes, in a bowl indoors- no. At the mo I'm taking him to the garden for pudding after lunch.

My RDI consultant mentioned that she had a family that ate all their dinners by candlelight. The original idea was to help highlight faces which is an early objective in RDI. However it had the added bonus that because her autistic son couldn't see his dinner so well, he ate it more readily .

The lengths we have to go to! Can't see a naked-flame working in this house tho - I get tetchy enough with birthday cakes!

SAKER!

I've found that works too!!

Also seriously considering sitting my boys at table 1 at a time- so i have chance to focus on each- bugger what supernanny says about 'family mealtimes'...ours are bloody awful...and i reckon we'd all be alot happier if we have different sittings! (ACTUALLY I COULD GO THE WHOLE HOG...AND SERVE DIFFERENT MEALS AT EACH SITTING!!!!)

That might work here too, have the problem that sometimes ds2(who will pretty much eat most things) will inform dd that she doesn't like something when she hasn't even had a chance to try it!(ds2 get's very awkward when he's tired!)

...and then thiss morning...ds2 'in passing...just mentions....' that whilst at the secondary school SN visit he went on yesterday...they we all offered breakfast...and he TRIED....a bacon roll...and a veggie burger!!!!!

and 'prefered' the veggieburger...and scored the bacon 2/10!!!!! (however in my eyes 2/10 is FANTASTIC as anything over zero indicates he WILL tolerate!!!!!!)

I am so gobsmacked- especially as yesterday when i asked him how his visit went he said nothing of this!!!

TBH...i am so impressed that the SN team got him to eat it....infact ...it's the FIRST time i haVE been impressed with anything the SN team have ever done at that school!!!!
