The meetings

It probably is just me, but does anyone else find the meetings a bit ... boring? The consultant goes around every person to discuss their loss, and the post-Christmas group is so big that it seems endless. I find myself counting how many people there are to go! I don’t want to just weigh and go (she always says we should just go to Boots if that’s what we want, but somehow that doesn’t have the same accountability). I just wish I didn’t find it so hard to get through, and that there was a talk or something instead. Anyone else?

I feel the same, I would prefer to talk about recipes and tips.

I’ve been to four different groups - first one was small and friendly and it really helped. Then went to two different ones where there were so many people that it went on for frigging ever...
Current group (rejoined yesterday) is good because the consultant gets a bloody move on and we are out on time!

I find them awful x but then need to go to group to be shamed to loose weight x

Agree.
It dragged out for what felt like an hour.
Could they not say
“The following people have lost 4lb this week- Julie, Sarah, Claire” applause
“The following people lost 3lb this week- Mel, Emma, cath” applause
Anyone want to put their hand up and discuss their tips or results?

I also hate the food diary sheet it’s too small and badly laid out

I don't mind group, but if I didn't like it I wouldn't go....

I used to find the meetings very boring with so many people there. The only thing I liked about it was that I wasn’t sitting there eating.

I’m glad it’s not just me! It’s like foz said - I need to go to be shamed into sticking to it, but wish the format was different!

We have a new consultant so early days yet. He did a new member talk last week that I found helpful.

I have never stayed to group (have been going on and off for six months). The consultant occasionally sends texts saying it’s so important to go etc etc but I just don’t have time and I can’t imagine enjoying it. I find the pressure to stay to group annoying tbh, with people saying “Oh I didn’t want to just weigh and run” as though this were a social crime or something!

Yes I did. I did it online, then went to the meetings but now I am back to doing it online again.

I go to weigh in but rarely stay due to work. And the fact that the meetings drag on for 90m. I sometimes think there’d be a market for a “speed group” that lasted about 20m. So many at my group treat it as a coffee morning type affair.

Hate the meetings

There's always a couple that have to drone on about every single thing they've scoffed or not scoffed

I don't stay

The meetings are really annoying, they can be great if you have a small group but there's nothing worse than going around 20-30 people. There's always that one person who has no concept of time who wants to tell us about their whole week. So tedious.

I like mine - I go to a small, mid-morning group. Even when I've gone to evenings at the same venue we're always done in about an hour. Technically the first half hour is for weighing in, so you can cut down that bit by arriving later.

Our consultant is good though, she offers advice, asks others for tips and it can be a proper discussion group too.

I quite like going to group just because I can sit there and read through some magazines and chat to people, but I do agree post Christmas it just seems to drag on for ages. Does everyone really need a round of applause for losing weight? I prefer it if they just asked for suggestions of what people have done differently this week/needed tips etc then talked about recipes etc. I found the post new year one quite useful where we just all went through the rules again and discussed it. I wonder if more people would stay if it was a bit more helpful.

I changed to WW because the meetings are much shorter and they don't do all that ridiculous happy clappy crappy stuff and talking to every single person. I used to hate having.to listen to how Mary drank a bucket of lager and lost 2lb etc

Slimming world meetings are shit. I'm not really interested in what every single person has lost/gained! And it's none of my business. I just want lots of hints and tips with cooking/exercise etc!

they’re awful. i’ve tried, really tried to stay to meetings as they say it helps your weight loss. but the group is a big one and going round each person individually takes ages and it’s so boring. there’s always one person who harps on for ages.

i would much prefer ideas of recipes, people to share tips on what they’ve eaten, or low syn foods they’ve found, or special offers in places. much more helpful!

People used to us mine as a crèche

It had toddlers and pre schoolers running around squeeling

I may admit the teacher did ask the parents to watch them

Totally agree that the meetings would be much better if they just focused on tips and recipes. I really don't give a shit if someone has lost/gained a pound this week.

Oh yes the feral children. I remember once a toddler doing laps round the group and was very tempted to stick my foot out.

I got a bollocking from my consultant for suggesting a different approach.....🤪🤪🤪

My consultant keeps image therapy to about 45 minutes, even if there's loads of us. But it's still utterly tedious.

I quite like it. Whilst I am there, im not stuffing my face with food.

The meeting itself is the usual clap at maggie who has lost a pound all the way around every member who stays but there are some good ideas and recipies. It turns out from staying at group this week I discovered that not every muller light is syn free and some are actually 4 syns each!

Report
Keehar256 · 25/01/2018 13:07

OMG which muller lights are not free!!??
