Sleep

DD just won't settle to sleep and I don't know what to do.

DD is five months and one week and she just won't settle to sleep anymore. She used to self settle and sleep at least a six hour stretch at night. Now she has to be either rocked or fed to sleep and wakes up often during the night and after we have put her down for a nap. I have no idea what to do. She is ebf.

I feel she is too young to be left to cry but I have no clue what I should be doing. I tried pick up put down and she just got in a state. What on earth should I be doing?

Have you looked at her gums? She could be starting to teethe, the teeth push more at night.

Hey, ds is having a weird one too (same age), not feeding properly, wants to be rocked. Think he has a cold...

i just go with the flow and do whatever it takes.

Could be teeth. My ds was like this from the get go, I was so happy when she started off being able to go to sleep herself. Now she is up half the night, it's a nightmare. She is so tired too, she just cries everytime I put her down though.

We don't do putting down (asleep) here. But the crying sounds familiar, he has mostly ccried all day today when not sleeping. Or grabbed me on my nose where I have a really painful spot. Ouch. Now I want to cry.

It's hard. Just trying to get through this patch knowing tomorrow is another day.

Sounds like teeth to me too. Try a dose of Calpol to see if that fixes it! (fx)

Thanks, teeth, of course! - this is dc3, funny how you forget it all.

Well the last two nights she has gone to sleep herself in her chair downstairs. It lies flat so I am just going to leave her in it until she wakes up again. I think she just wants to be around people.

My DS is going through something similar (also 5m, 1wk). Teeth are def. trying to come through (bulgey gums) and he's been clingy all day :(

By the way, I'm on a postnatal thread with others of same age babies (and Adair there are a few of us who also already have a couple of DCs too, and still not getting it right this time round :o) thread here - come join us for the joys and confusions of these little wrigglers! :)
