This is kind of fun: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/7773974.stm

It's been 22 years for me and I've not been tutored for this test this afternoon Wink - I got 13/15. One of those was inexcusable and I'm ashamed of myself, the other I didn't have a danny about!

Oh dear, question 16 should've been "when did you take your 11 plus?" because for me it's actually 27 years, not 22. Blush I'd like to be 32 again though if that can be arranged.

13/15 in 4 minutes
but I never took the 11 plus

Didn't take 11+ but it would have been 38 years ago Shock and got 13/15 as well.

They're quite logical/mathematical.
I got 15/15 in 4 minutes Grin (show off) didn't think of them as particularly difficult, just a little long winded compared to today's style of questions. Most of them had 2+ steps to work out the answer.

Am I allowed to say (very very quietly) that those are nowhere near as hard as the current ones.....?

jan

15/15 - I love these sort of questions Blush

DD12 got 10

dd 10 got 6

Neither had seen an 11+ paper before so no tutoring lol!! TBF dd12 I would have expected to pass a grammar school test.

those questions are really easy - far easier than the practice papers that my ds is doing at the moment

Full marks, but it took me 8.5 minutes. In my defence, it was 42 years ago that I took (and passed) the 11+. And yes, we were tutored to within an inch of our lives!

13 in 4 1/2mins. I passed the original 36 years agoBlush, but with no tutoring as I went to a rough old primary school and it wasn't the done thing!

14/15, not bad as I only took 6 mins and I was helping my 9mo DS stand up the entire time!

Very easy ... is that how easy the 11+ is ... seriously ?

Never took it ... 37 years ago

Oh and ... 15/15

13 after about 5 pints.

(I think I have that the right way round)

Report
cornsylk · 15/09/2011 20:29

talker it isn't that easy at all

It makes it very easy if they give you suggested answers!

So what is the 'pass' score?

Report
circular · 16/09/2011 07:24

14/15, would have been about 7 mind, but wasted the rest of the time trying to puzzle out the other one.

Passed 11+ 39 years ago, remember it being much easier then.

DD 14 scored 9. Not sure if this should worry us or not. Last time she saw anything remotely like this was 7+ entry. In top sets for everything.

I will try it later, I never passed it the first time round!

I passed 11+ 35 years ago Blush

Got them all right except the last one. Had to give up on that. I started getting that old exam panic feeling where something's swimming before your eyes and all I could see were those two 18s in the middle.

christmasmum · 16/09/2011 10:54

But what's the pass mark?!

Report
notcitrus · 16/09/2011 11:18

13/15, though I gave up early. Looking at a previous paper would have reminded me of how those number puzzles work (worked for the civil service exams).

I did the Common Entrance 11+ 26 years ago and passed at scholarship level despite having never heard of the 11+ until being confronted with the papers!

14/15 in 4 minutes but just got DD through 11+ so it is only 1 year since I last looked at these type of questions.

Report
MillyR · 16/09/2011 12:58

I think that is easier than the real eleven plus.
