Friday the 18th.

Earlier than usual. We only had 1 week October holiday though so maybe getting a bit extra at Christmas instead?

Wow some of those dates are so late!
My children finish on Friday 18th. We are in Surrey. I also have some time off work and am enjoying planning some lovely run up to Christmas activities. Breaking up on 22nd or 23rd wouldn't give us time to do hardly anything.

One breaks up 11th and the other is professionally offended that she has until 18th (which is early for her school and they had their usual fortnight in Oct/Nov and didn't go back to school till 7 Nov).
DH has decided he is breaking up at 12 noon on Xmas Eve.

Schools used to finished regularly very close to Christmas. 22nd would've been almost "early". We have Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve (Danish custom) and my mum was most pissed off on those years that she had to work on the 24th Shock

Best scenario was when Christmas fell on a Tuesday. They didn't like to open the school for a single day, so would stop on the 21st - but would then go back on the 3rd Shock

This was in the 70s/80s.

In Glasgow schools close this year at 2.30 on 22nd. Ds' last prelim is on the 21st and he most indignant that I've said that yes, he does still have to go into school on the 22nd. I've explained that this is because we want to ask the school for 2 days absence after the spring break to give us a full week in February to go skiing but he is still pissed off

We're in South Lanarkshire. We had only one week in October but the summer holidays were long this year. Kids had the full seven weeks off so I can only imagine this is the pay off.

We only have 9 working days off this year instead of the usual 10 but I think we finish on a Thursday at summer so that seems to make up for it.

The 18th December which is just right for us.It means we can finish getting all the Christmas pressie and food shopping done and we can get all the presents and cards wrapped, wrote and sent and it means we have nearly a week to go and see Father Christmas,go out for dinner and go Ice skating with the 5DC.
