Im pretty sure im being a little thick, but my dp has absolutley no personal hygiene! He NEVER ever gets a bath/shower i can honeslty say the longest i have noted has been about 3 months before i have said something and he's moaned and gone and got one! but he says our shower is too small he is pretty tall and he has to stoop under it, and he doesnt like getting a bath as he doesnt like the fact that the kids are bathed in it every day and our youngest has quite often poo'd in it (nice!) but seriously! it disgusts me! he assures me he washes himself 'thoroughly' every day but - eewwww! my sister laughs and says when she first met her dh she had to drag him into the shower and make him, but he got better the older he got (god it makes them sound about 4 years old!) she just laughs and says most men are filthy pigs when it comes to hygiene! Sorry for a strange rant but its something i really cant bare - more than almost anything! I hate bad personal hygiene! is it me? or are some men just like this?

DH is every other day or so, but the baths last at least an hour at the time, and nearly always when DD is still up!!!!!!!!!!

Would almost prefer stinky....

My xp was like that when I first met up. I simply told him on day 2 that if he didn't take personal hygiene seriously, we wouldn't be an item, end of. Shower every day, shower after sex (except in the middle of the night), no exceptions. Dirty men are disgusting. How can you bear to have sex with him, or have him in bed with you, or even eat with him?

Yuk, yuk, yuk!

Lots of men are gross, my brother is an example. I shower at least once a day and bath when I get time, which isn't often.

Surely if you wash the bath after your children have been in it, your dp has no excuse? Let's face it, even with poo in it, the bath will still be cleaner than him. Point out to him that he has 3 months of unwashed off cack on his backside, that might make him think a bit.

kama - i thought your post read SANITARY products! i have been sitting wondering what the hell a bloke could do with THEM!!!!!!!

obviously far too early in the morning for me!!!!

my dh is cleaner than me mostly, in fact all my boyfriends have been, especially one who was half-Japanese, he was deliciously clean. I probably bathe about once every other day now. Feel guilty that I prefer baths to showers because of water conservation.

That's revolting - no way would any man come anywhere near me if he'd not bathed for a couple of days, let alone a couple of months. To my mind, that would be a complete lack of respect for me, let alone himself !

The poo excuse is ridiculous .... you don't leave it sitting there in the bottom of the bath do you ?!

As HappyDaddy points out, the condition of his nether regions must be appalling. Never mind his backside, what about the front IYKWIM - uuuurrgggghhh (at this point I would insert an emoticon for being sick if there was one).

boyf is inpeccably clean (more so than me even), couldn't be with someone who didn't shower everyday. Certainly couldn't perform intimate acts

Report
expatinscotland · 22/07/2005 10:23

That's just nasty! DH showers daily and shaves every other day. He uses antiprespirant and light cologne daily as well as chaning his underwear.

I would NOT be with someone who didn't. UTIs or other infections from someone who doesn't cleanse himself regularly isn't my idea of respecting your partner.

Barf!

I shower and wash my hair every day - even whilst ill.

DD is bathed daily, although I only wash her hair every other day.

I could not live in a place with no shower.

Sorry to disagree - but if he does wash EVERY day (as he claims) what's wrong with that???

I didn't shower in Zimbabwe for 1 1/2yrs (didn't have access to one) and didn't 'bath' for almost 1yr - as the bath in the place I was staying was manky as hell. I did however wash myself thoroughly everyday using soap and the sink........

Have no worries - we havent had sex in AGES! i cant stomach the thought of it! like you say what state must his tackle be in and round the back! (this too is where i need a vomit emoticon!) - [vomit] [vomit] [vomit]!!!!!! obvioulsy it goes without saying that the lack of sex is a problem to him! - but seriously how gross is not washing! i understand QueenOfQuotes that a good wash all over everyday is fine if thats all you can manage, but why my dp cant get a proper bath or shower everyday is beyond me! we have a lovely bathroom im a furiously clean person and would never leave the kids poopy bath doings around! so he cant use that as an excuse! and to be honest he SAYS he gets a thorough wash every morning but if he did then that would mean he DID have some care for his own personal hygiene and if thats the case surely its easier to just jump in the shower! Ewwww he just thinks im looking for excuses to not be intimate with him! - HAHAHAHAHA i dont need to look for long do i? he doesnt wash! - can you tell im at my wits end with him yet?? - MEN!!

You're "looking for excuses" to avoid intimacy with him? Who the hell would want to be intimate with someone with crusty bollocks?

Just print this thread off and show him how disgusting everyone thinks he is!

Was there any need to say crusty and bollocks in the same sentence...well really

I would not sleep next to someone who didnt wash their bits regularly - full stop.

QoQ - do you still not use a bath or shower, now that you do have access? I grew up in a house without a bathroom, but even so we had the equivalent by standing a washing in a largish bucket. Personally I'd wouldn't go back to that now...

AnotherHelen · 22/07/2005 13:28

Caligula - my sentiments EXACTLY! well he's fast heading for the spare room! he's developing a smoker cough now too! - he only 28 and he seems more like a manky old 80 year old!
WHAT do i do with him!!!! - i have a good mind to go and tell his mum and dad! (and im what? - 8 years old! ) im not sure but i'd like to think they'd kick his arse!
