New boyfriend - wtf to get him for xmas?!

I've been seeing someone for a month or so, and it's going really well. I have anxiety regarding boyfriends and gifts because of my ex who had massively ridiculously grandiose expectations of what he should receive on Christmas and birthdays.

Anyway, I know he's got me something because he's told me, but I literally don't have a clue what to get him! We get on like a house on fire, but I don't feel I know him well enough to pick out a thoughtful and meaningful gift. I don't even know what size clothes he wears or anything. And I don't want to buy him any old tat just for the sake of it. He said he doesn't want or expect anything but I'm going to feel bad if he gives me a gift and I haven't got anything to give him back. Help!

Tickets for something you can do together

Does he have any interests?

Have you been to his place? Does he cook? Read? Play sport? Feel the cold and need a new pair of gloves?

I had a similar problem once. I worked on what I knew he liked and bought him a very nice present in the sales

Possibly the best investment I ever made.

Ooh theatre tickets, that's not a bad idea. I know he likes the theatre. He's not into footy (thank god Grin)

He'll drink anything as far as I can tell, but red wine is his favourite.

Haven't been to his place yet because it's a building site, but planning to in the new year.

He's 44. Likes reading, and cycling but I think in a casual kind of way rather than 100 miles before breakfast clad in Lycra kind of way.

Sabrina Ghayour's book called Siroco from Amazon. RRP at £20, but I think it's down to £6

How lovely and exciting to be in a new relationship. Scarf sounds good. Something hobby related? Keep the receipt and if he doesn't like it change it. Good luck.

A voucher for a nice restaurant you can go to together is a good one. Or theatre as somebody already mentioned.

Or if he likes chocolate, Hotel Chocolat do some nice hampers.

It is really lovely and exciting. We met at party 7 years ago and recently became reacquainted. We never seem to run out of things to say to each other, our record on the phone is 6.5 hours! He's great.

A nice card with an IOU for taking him out to dinner. That way if he buys you a cd you take him to kfc, if he's got you Tiffany, you can upgrade to somewhere posher..

All sorted! Was going to get him theatre tickets, and had found a show in a city that would work perfectly for both of us to get to, in early Jan, on a day I know we can both do. Sorted childcare and Was about to book then realised at the last minute that dates were in Jan 2018, not 2017 Grin. Narrowly avoided a massive fuck up there.

I know what he's got me now, because the thing he originally wanted to get also fucked up so he was at a loss. So I helpfully told him I would really like a babyliss big hair, which makes life easier because I know what he's spending on me. Then had a brainwave this morning and remembered he said he wanted to get a wireless printer so he could print from his iPad, so that's what I've got him. It was about the same price as the babyliss thing. Might get him some wine and choccies too.

Thanks all :)

That's lovely op.
I was going to suggest tickets or a virtual reality headset (that's my go to this year for men in my life I don't know what else to get)
