So today i thought i would surprise my wife by getting some flowers sent to the school she works in. I ordered them first thing this morning and i have just received a message from interflora wanting to cancel my order because they are too busy! i wish they had told me 4 hrs ago.

just venting anger because now she is going to be disappointed.

any ideas for making it up?

Try another florist? Buy some from a shop?

Just got a local florist who said they might be able to do it!

i am stuck in work or else i would drop them off myself.

to say i am annoyed at interflora is an understatement.

Well that's poor service - too busy!!! They know which day it is!!

Is her favorite flower the rose? If not I wouldn't worry.

oh no! make sure you leave a bad review. How silly they must have known that that would be busy on valentines day.

Or just pick another day and surprise her then.

she likes lilies but i wanted to order red roses because of the day. I love the idea that the flowers will arrive at reception and that its a bit exciting maybe getting them in front of the children.

i had to read out my shakespeare quote for the card to the florist over the phone Blush
i suppose they are used to it. they were very good but couldn't promise that it would get there today.

fingers crossed.

Ha! Reading the Shakespeare quote over the phone! Bless you!

Is there a birthday or anniversary coming up any time soon? Interflora really should upgrade you or offer you a discount (so you can get an even bigger bunch) next time. If you would trust them again that is.

Could they not deliver them to your home in the morning? Better late than never. You can show your wife the message that you'd planned for them to go to work maybe afterwards.

Yes, but the red roses are always horribly overpriced. Pink roses would be fine!

Well I think that's awful. If you ordered the flowers in advance they should have honoured delivery. I would contact head office and complain. That's really not on.

Next time, try ordering a little more in advance than valentines morning!

What was the quote? I have to know.

ilikemysleep.

i understand what you are saying but they shouldnt be taking orders they cant deliver! just switch the website off. Why wait 4 hrs before telling me giving me no chance of going elsewhere.

i am hoping the local florist(who i probably should have called first) will come good for me.

Supermarket flowers and a bottle of her favourite wine (or champagne). DH is in my very good books for this combination.

No point in expensive flowers at this time of year, they often don't last well, to much demand, very forced and inconsistent storage temps. I suspect.

Inter flora messed up the only time I used them, while Next have sent my DMum lovely mothers' day flowers for years.

Fragranced spring flowers-narcissus, hyacinths, freesias would be 10x as nice, I think.

What a lovely thought!

I know roses are traditional....but other flowers are just as lovely (am I the only one who doesn't like the smell of roses?)

I'd get her lilies if those are her favourite (can't stand the smell of them either - DH was moaning about how hard he had to hunt to find me a bouquet that DIDN'T have them included!)

Is there a M&S nearby? 100 stems for £55. Or a bottle of fizz?

Definitely reply to inter flora to say not needed any more as get them somewhere else after they cancelled the order.

You never know, they might get delivered anyway, but you can fight for your money back because you confirmed their cancellation ....
