I've posted before about my relationship with DH - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/relationships/1509467-Ive-been-taken-for-a-mug
Well today I finally took some action and went to see a solicitor. I just wanted to be sure of the financial implications so I know exactly where I stand.

The advice I was given was very positive which has taken a great weight of my mind. Now I just need to build up the courage to actually end things. That is the huge next step.

I know it might not seem like much progress, but it is a huge step for me. I am so non-confrontational and, after suffering from depression, have lost all confidence in myself. So just asking for this advice is a big thing.

It IS massive progress, getting to understand your legal profession is a big step, and one that you absolutely needed to take.

Well done, take things slowly, and keep posting/asking questions if and when you need to.

What did the solicitor tell you and when are you going to break the news to him that he needs to find new lodgings?

Basically I was concerned that he would be entitled to some money from the house. But the solicitor said it would hardly be worth going through a legal battle for the amount involved. And, if he did, it's very likely that a judge would rule in my favour given that I've paid for everything.
