oooooo i just had to tell someone my orbit has arrived, have not pushed it out yet but first impressions, really lovely, lovely colour, brown with either a pink liner or beige liner, so one in the wash one on Grin huge seat my dd4 looks lost, huge hood and pull out visor, was very easy to unfold and put seat on and unfold seat, very easy to fold seat back down and then fold took less than a minute, you can have a one or two piece fold which will be great if i was forced to fold for the bus, shopping basket great and i could leave my bits in the bag if i had to fold as it would not fall out, not light but ok to carry have had heavier, will have to go for a pointless walk later to try out pushabilty but if this is great, i could be cured of my pram problem, my xari for walks, orbit for walks/ days out, public transport and the vista [i would like] for big shop. Grin and that would be it, other than of course my wagons Grin and all parent facing which dd seems to prefer [she talks when pf but is silent when ff]

My Orbit is finally on it's journey...So hoping it should arrive by Wednesday/Thursday next week...How old is your dd4??? Mine is 2 years and 3 months but the size of a just 1 year old so i'm not worried about her being too big but she might get lost in the seat!!! This will have to cure me, as i really need to start making over payments on the mortgage...Though i might buy the odd cheapy from car boots etc etc, to use, then clean up and sell on at a small profit.

dd4 is 2 years and 10 months [i prefer to say 2 1/2 but i have realised she will be 3 in 2 months oh she is growing up to fast] the seat is huge lots of height, it pushes like a dream, i was even able to push one handed which i can never do with a two handled pushchair, some of the paths slop down alot, i bet you can not wait to try yours, i would be checking the tracking every hour to see where it was, Grin i love it and it is so different, well until they sell them over here next year. i did not think i would use the bag underneath but i did today put some shopping in it, it was so easy to get to, open pop carrier bag in and slide back in. [ i waited till outside as thought it would be difficult] Grin

Sounds fantastic...Think mine's on the plane now, from New Jersey...It left 1.22pm our time so it'll be late evening i think before i get a new update...The accessories have ended up in a second box and it got left in the shop so UPS have had to pick that up seperately so i can't track that one as it's the same number but maybe with it being the weekend, it might catch up if stuff doesn't move much over the weekend...And best of all i still didn't get charged for the second box, though i did offer to pay for extra postage...I've got the panniers in the second box so the bag underneath i'll just use for day to day essentials most of the time as i don't need a new nappy bag, having just bought the Bumbleride Jam pack recently.

i am going to try and get the panniers in a few weeks , but strollermama and amazon won't ship them so i am going to try mbeans or beg and grovel to seller on ebay. you will have to tell me all about your new orbit as mine is the g1,

It arrived at Stanstead at 7.54pm!!! In the box is the watermelon color pack, black panniers, large footmuff and large weather pack though the mosquito net won't get used...I was charged $160 which isn't too bad as it is a heavy item plus he then didn't charge extra for the accessories box...Originally he thought he'd be able to get them in the box with the stroller...Depending on how much UPS works over the weekend i may get it Monday, which would be good as i'm home all day...Be a pain if it arrived Tuesday as i'm out most of the day working...DH gets home late morning usually and waits for my dad to arrive back with DD...Mind you he could stay in till i get back as he's not going to his parents, as they've got a funeral...I hate it, if i miss couriers...Then i can be home all Wednesday and Thursday if needs be as the second box may follow a day later.

It's pink for some strange reason...Every watermelon i've eaten is green on the outside and red inside with black seeds!!!

Really interested where you ordered from and if you have to pay duty on importing it. I have only ever bought one back with me when we were on holiday so I used it and wasn't concerned about customs as a child under 5 can have a stroller each. Would consider it as saw these a while ago when we were in the states a while ago and they looked cool.

I've got the black/slate as it goes well with all the color packs...It's only recently i've bought brand new.

i don't buy new very often, most of my pushchairs have been 2nd hand i have had so many Blush people just say now 'another new one' and smile. i was really good with my first only had 2 yes 2 a pram and a buggy, then when i had dd2 i had bought 2 second hand before i had her and it went from there, spiralled out of control when i need a double when ds came along Grin

As to custom charges it's just the luck of the draw i think, though i bet bigger items are charged more frequently as they'll almost certainly be more expensive items...With USPS/Parcelforce i was aware of being charged once it had cleared customs, as it said so on my tracking notes as i imported a Bumbleride Indie...The Bumbleride Flyer i didn't get charged for...The Bumbleride Flite i paid upfront through Amazon.com set up...Though it is possible to get your money back if you weren't charged but i don't think anyone on here, has figured that one out yet...The Orbit will incur a large charge if i do get collared, i'm pretty sure...I bought via Hip baby gear but i did it personally rather than directly through the website.

black/slate will look stunning with watermelon and like you said you will be able to change colours too, it's nice to be able to have a change

I really wanted the grape set but the guy only had watermelon and pacific blue...The website doesn't sell color packs yet but must have had them in the shop...So if they do get listed online i'll buy the grape one then, or possibly wait and see if the Orbit does get sold over here, next year and buy then.

Try... www.ishop-america.com/shops_baby_events.php then click on let's go strolling at the top and it's just let me get as far as check out with some Orbit panniers. I have bought several pushchair bits from them - they are fab and lovely to speak to as well.

Mine's on it's way to Castle Donington...Scheduled for delivery by the end of Tuesday...Hope it doesn't arrive while my dad's dropping DD off as he stays for ages, playing with her...Mum eyed the Indie suspiciously, last Friday according to DH, but she didn't mention it to me...If i'd known she was coming, i'd have folded it up and hid it!!! So i'd rather a big box arrive when no parents were around.

That ishop is good though ordering through Letsgostrolling incurs expensive shipping but at least it's easy ordering though...I'd still love the Orbit toddler car seat but wondering how invalidates my car insurance...Do you think it would be just in relation to replacing the car seat if you had an accident and if something happened to my DD??? It could hardly invalidate the whole insurance if say the whole car was a write off, as the car seat wouldn't exactly cause an accident!!!

Report
pramsgalore · 13/08/2011 14:08

i can not see why it would invalidate your insurance on your car, it's not effecting your car, its a car seat!!!!, i would use it happily as it has past testing to a high standard, just not our standard, but then your pushchair or mine will not have been tested to uk standards either. Alot of car seats in peoples cars are ill fitted and would not be safe in an accident so just make sure its fitted correctly but that would be the same with any carseat, i am sure it would be fine and safe and to tell you the truth, it would never have crossed my mine it would'nt be ok. yes i noticed the shipping costs were high, but i may still get from there as i can use paypal, have to go now, going away for a few days visiting family [my mum] on the way home i am stopping off at kiddicare Grin i will be like a kid in a sweet shop Grin but only to look of course Grin
my mum knows i have alot of pushchairs but she's never at mine to moan at me, she lives to far away so i just have a really nice one out for her to push when she visits and that keeps her happy Grin, my dad just rolls his eyes but never says anything [he's bought me 2 over the years]
