aga or wood burning stove

so guess which one DH wants. so to the vote - in a large open plan kitchen diner living room which would you have?

I would go for an aga gas cooker which looks like a nice old fashioned aga but with gas burners on top and then have under floor heating!

here - beauty of an aga but underfloor heating easy to control and cheaper and just super yummy.

we have a seperate living room (which will become our "salon" ha ha) when we knock through our dining room, kitchen, breakfast room to become a kitchen, snug type place and dining room) room will be l shaped, roughly 7 metres by 8 metres.

Aga for all round warmth and usefulness, woodburning for cosy feature if using room of an evening to sit in. You wouldn't want to sit looking at an aga no matter how toasty you were. Equally, you wouldn't want to get the fire going to cook your toast or bake a cake, plus cake baking isn't going to be too successful over a naked flame now is it?

On balance, Aga plus a Dab Radio so you can be audibly entertained in lieu of visual stimulation.

To me they are totally diferent things.

An Aga is something that you cook on which also gives out heat. A woodburner heats a room but doesn't cook your dinner.

I'd go for a woodburning stove personally - but my cooking style probably doesn't suit an Aga!

Well...my FIL has an Aga and his gas bills make me swoon - £125 per month all year round.

I would never seek to dissuade anyone from something they have set their heart on! But woodburners are cheapish to run.

I would go for a woodburner.
