Are they worth it? Is it proper boiling water, to make a good cup of tea? Thanks.

They’re amazing. Ours was installed by previous owner. Small issue with it at the moment, but as we’re planning a new kitchen shortly, I’m not bothering to fix the old one. Currently using kettle. Such a faff. Can’t wait to get a new Quooker!

Yes. Wouldn’t be without it now.

We're getting a Fohen one installed in the next week or so. We decided we thought it was worth it. Fingers crossed it works out. There's the tap cost, install and running costs (filters) to think about. This will be more if you're in a hard water area (I think this is the case for most boiling water taps but I could be wrong)

Yes. Quooker here, love it.

I like the idea but worry about someone accidentally scalding themselves. I don’t know why, because it’s not much different to the little boilers you used to get in the kitchen in older offices.

Yes, we've put an insinkerator in here after having one at the old house. I have it set to 90 degrees so you can drink hot drinks straight away, but you can change the dial on the tank to whatever you'd prefer.

PP raised concerns about accidental scolding - our one has a control on the right for hot and cold water like a normal tap. Then a separate bit on the left you have to push down and then pull towards you. It's a very deliberate action - I find guests struggle to get it to give boiling water rather than using it by accident.

Yes! We are looking to move and it will be awful moving to a new house that has no boiling tap!

How much are they to run? I’ve seen small print on adverts says you need new filter every 100 litres or so which isn’t very much for a tap.

I have a quooker and love it. Definitely boiling hot. I can't see how you could accidentally scald yourself as you have to pump and twist the middle bit. Really glad they have one in black now!

Thanks all. We are looking at putting in a water softener as well. Can they be used with this?

We have one in work- there’s no way you could accidentally scald yourself, it’s a two step process to get to the hot water.

That being said, I don’t see the value. The water isn’t actually boiling, the tank underneath the sink takes up a fair amount of space, changing the filters is just another bit of house maintenance to have to think about and the cost is crazy.

I’d rather just have a decent kettle tbh.

Thanks all, any info on cost of running and if it can be used with a water softener?

We ideally would like to have a cup of tea made using one so we can see if it tastes the same…guess that’s not possible anywhere though?

Would be without ours. Ours is most definitely boiling, and I drink my tea at lava-like temperatures. Softener will make no difference as you’ll have hard water to your drinking water taps anyway (you can’t drink soft water).

WOULDNT! Should have proof read.

SIL has a Qooker and is positively evangelical about it. She’s more of a coffee drinker though; I personally think the tea it makes isn’t very nice. I’m quite precious about my tea though. If you’re not that picky it’s probably fine.

I love tea. Quooker does proper tea boiling water. Some don't. I have only had Quookers so can't speak for all.

@TerribleCustomerCervix the Quooker is a boiling water tap, others are hot water taps but still at 90 plus degrees.

Had an Insinkerator one installed 8 years ago when we had a new kitchen, would not be without it. I use it to wash up as we have a dishwasher so not many things are hand washed. I hate wasting perfectly good cold water until the hot water finally comes through only to use not even half a sink full of hot water.

We are upgrading to a Quooker soon. You cannot scold yourself, the Insinkerator is a separate side tap, you need to push down the lever and then turn it. My children from being 8 have used it, it feels much safer than lifting a kettle to pour water.

Our fohen is in now. After the first cup of tea I knew I could never go back to the kettle life! I love ours.

@ViewFromTheSteeple - I would agree that I felt much safer having a small child not being able to hurt themselves with a Quooker rather than pulling over the kettle.

I have a quooker tap. It’s brilliant.

I shall buck the trend to say I don't like mine.
On/off is on the left hand side of the tap. My left handed daughter scolded herself with it. She was tired and distracted, it made a mess of her hand.
If I had my time again, I would save my money.
