Too many toilets?

I'm extending - out and up.

At the moment we only have 1 toilet.

We are extending our to put a downstairs toilet. I'll build an office outside at the back of the garden and put a toilet in there.

And then up in the loft we're getting an new room and en-suite.

Is 4 toilets too many? DH has got this weird instance that we don't need a toilet in the office. He doesn't work from home so not sure what is issue is.

Is he right or is it overkill on the toilets ?

A toilet in the garden room would make it easier to use as a guest suite in the future. We have four toilets in a 4 bed house. It never feels like too many.

We have three /four bedrooms (one we don’t use as a bedroom) and one on every floor. I can’t see four as over kill if it’s in the garden room. In fact I think it’s a great idea.

I have a four bed house and have three full bathrooms and a loo. Makes sense to me.

Sounds right to me.

However, is it about the cost of digging up the garden for a soil pipe etc? It sounds potentially costly to get that loo in the garden room.

We looked at a new build a while back that had an ensuite to each of the 4 bedrooms, plus a family bathroom, plus a downstairs cloakroom. Unless there was a history of mass outbreaks of the squits in the area that felt like too many. I think you're fine and you'd regret not putting on in the office when you have to walk through the rain in winter numerous times a day for a wee.

I have 4 bathrooms to me its a complete pain. I always have cleaned and hoovered full house daily. Personally I think 4 is too many but it depends how large your family is.

No such thing as too many toilets. Bloody hate homes with not enough toilets in them. 4 sounds great for the size of the home. Would definitely put one in the office.

Composting loo in the garden room.

Presumably you have priced up getting the loo put into the garden office. I don't think 4 is too many, but I would need to be convinced that the loo in the garden was worth the cost of installing & plumbing it.

One on each floor plus en suite sounds perfect

@petherbridge

Composting loo in the garden room.

Why? It's not at all difficult to plumb in a flushing toilet in a garden office.

I wouldn't bother with the one in the garden room.
